killer whales and the red fire bunny

Apr 07, 2009 17:17

Yesterday my nephew, Minya, turned seven.

I made him a painting of a Killer Whale for this Birthday.   He seemed to like it quite a bit.  He’s terribly fond of Killer Whales, to the point where he claims that Legos and Killer Whales are the only things he dreams about.    Needless to say he also got quite a few Legos for his Birthday as well. I think chocolate coated matzah in and of itself would have been fine but the jellybeans sort of pushed it into Chrismukkah territory.

Oh, the bunny sounds heavenly!

I recently had a trip to Belgium where I bought some chilli chocolate! It was absolutely delicious.

Yay fancy chocolate. <3

Also, the Matzoh sounds neat too.

I remember adoring whales as a child too, and that's quite a nice painting. I adore the gorgeous deep red background.

It exists-- http://www.vosgeschocolate.com/product/bacon_exotic_candy_bar/exotic_candy_bars

We actually sell a fair amount of them at the Whole Foods where I work (despite the $8 price tag) and people seem to like them. I don't eat red meat at all I've never tried it even though once or twice they've had samples at the store.

I think Minya will treasure the killer whales forever. No one forgets a gift made just to please him. And they are very handsome.

I have a special recipe for Matzoh Toffee Buttercrunch, one of those okay-for-passover sweets you can make. It's okay to use matzoh! Want my recipe?

BTW, because you are a lovely, talented writer, I must point out to you that Lego's are possessive and Legos are plural. It is always thus and not hard to remember, so you can avoid this error just by noticing. There is no plural that has an apostrophe in it, not ever.

My niece and nephew have a little gallery of all the paintings I've done for them over the years and I think they genuinely appreciate them. It's really wonderful, I'm glad I'm able to give them something unique that they can cherish as I can't afford the kind of gifts that the rest of their family can give them.

Thanks for clarifying the grammar of Legos for me. I was going by my computer spell check but I guess it doesn't account for brand names. I fixed it up in the post.

I'd love your recipe-- I don't cook very much any more but maybe next year I'll make it. Toffee Buttercrunch sounds much classier than my jellybeans.

I'll post it in my LJ! This grammar rule doesn't have to do with Legos; it's whether you are making the word into a possessive - "The Lego's bumps were scraped off."- or a plural -"There were hundreds of Legos on the floor." It works the same with any word, and your spell check won't recognize it.

"Bitterfig's journal was of great interest to us all."

"Bitterfigs littered the ground under the Bitterfig tree."

See?

Thanks for clearing up the grammar rule. It never fails to amaze me how little grammar I've managed to absorb over the years. Basic things like the correct use of THEN and THAN come as a great revelation to me. I can't even blame my learning disability because it's simply stuff I don't know that I'm sure I was taught at some point. I must have just completely zoned out during most of my education.

That picture is pretty awesome. I imagine that it must look even better IRL.

Thank you so much. The actual painting is 12 x 6 so this is a really tiny reproduction. I may post some larger scans at my art journal.
