Secret Dream Friend
My secret dream friend is a dead Japanese girl named Hokuto. Sometimes during the day, when I’m sleeping, she comes to see me.
At first she was very cross and scolded me for drinking people’s blood and putting out the lights in them. I explained she may as well try and get a pussycat to not chase mices as put me off my lovely, lovely blood. There’s no such thing as a vegetarian vampire (though I once seen a painting that said there was).
That made her smile she said we could be friends, because sometimes even monsters, killers and the like can have their charms. Beside, she said, maybe it does the bad ones good to hang about with normal folk (not that she’s so normal, being dead and able to walk in dreams).
We have a lovely time together. She likes to dress me up like a doll in clothes she think up from her own head. They look as if they’re from when I was alive but also from when she was alive, both at the same time. I like to be her dolly.
Last time she came to see me I told her how I nearly took my holy vows before naughty Angelus turned me like I am so she made me a mini-skirt nun’s habit in chartreuse and lilac. Then we went for ice cream. In dreams, they make blood flavored ice cream. It’s really quite tasty.
