progress report?

Aug 08, 2010 23:54

With just a week left until the deadline, I think this is a good point to ask: how's everyone doing? Any problems I should know about? Please, if you can, give me some indication of how far along you are, so that I can make timely arrangements for deadline extension and such. I am willing to make them, I just need to know in advance ( Read more... )

I think you've seen how my life's been the past while but I have gotten some good writing in. I'll send you what I have and rocket it your way. I love hearing your comments on things.

The hardest part in writing, for me, is gearing up to start D: Not just the beginning of the story, but when I have to take a break for stupid things like SLEEP or mental preservation (which has always been weak to begin with), and start up again another day.

Anyway, firing up Word now for copy/pastica e-mail magic.

Received! I'll look at it as soon as I can, and I'm totally excited for this story, you have no idea. You'll pull it off, I have faith in you.

Sleep is totally the enemy. Also lack of drive, and assorted RL bullshit-ery. I miss when my flist was just you and a couple of other people, these days I always feel like I have to censor myself for the benefit of the people who never signed up to deal with my frequent and melodramatic woes.

See, for me it's the opposite. Getting out the RL bullshitery so that people can read it, it's therapeutic for me. If people don't like those posts, they don't have to read them. If they don't want to deal with the worst of me... Well, they don't have to.

You're not forcing it on anyone. They have that scroll button on mice for a reason. And, you know, I think you'd be surprised how many people might love you for you.

So, I mentioned to you a little while ago that I was having family issues in real life right now. And they ARE getting better, but they're still pretty bad. I won't get into the extent of it right now, but I just got around to writing stuff tonight after not writing anything for over a month and as I'm a little bit rusty I'm kind of hating everything I churn out. I'm going to try, I really am, but as my mom's illness has gotten worse and she's still in the hospital I'm not sure what curve balls my life's gonna throw me over the next few days ( ... )

You don't have to explain anything to me :( These days, I can absolutely relate to everything above, so believe me, I'm just wishing you the best. Don't push yourself over your limits, RL always comes first.

Re extension: To be honest? I'd be willing to push back the deadline a second time for everyone, unless a lot of people are finished and ready to submit their works already, which I hope but doubt is the case. I probably wouldn't do it again after this, however, because it wouldn't be fair to the folks who've been stressing over meeting this deadline. (And... uh, I should try to be a sterner mod? Maybe? No?)

The point is that I just want everyone to be as satisfied as possible with what they give and receive. This isn't an "assignment", it shouldn't feel like one.

Well, if other people contact you about a possible extension, definitely let me know since it would help a lot. Like I said, I'm trying to get a decent outline at least done tonight so I've got a general feel of the fic. And the sad thing is, it doesn't feel like an assignment. I'm excited about writing this, just again, that pesky RL. Anyway, I'll keep you posted and everything, and if you push the deadline back again before I comment asking for an extension lemme know, k? Thanks for being so understanding about all this. ♥

I'm in the editing stage. I've been stuck in the editing stage for a few weeks. It's just that I've been in this weird...slump thing where I want to write and I know I should write and I have so many ideas of what to write!! ...and then I go read manga to take a nap or something completely unrelated to writing. /)_(\

I feel okay with my progress though since I'm pulling out of it? I'm getting started on editing tonight (DETERMINATION!!) so...I feel like I'm in a good place. /o/

Oh wow, that's amazing. You've definitely got me beat, I'm only about 3/4 done, if that. Editing ahaha what's that.

As said above, while I'm willing to extend the final deadline a second time, I only want to do it if a lot of people need the time. If the majority were like you, then individual extensions would be fine. I can take care of the actual posting, no problem, but I want it to be a good experience for everyone involved.

You're a tricky one XD Please, go ahead and send me the story for beta-ing, though if you do would you mind doing it at least by the fifteenth? I'm considering giving everyone another week, but I'll need the time to write my fic look at all the stories too.

T-T Sounding boards good. My work ethic bad... (Real life? What is this madness)

I'm taking your advise and slowly pounding it out. I'm sorry I never replied to you, I wanted to wait until coherency hit. I'm sorry. T-T But made some progress >_>

I think maybe helping others might help jog my goddamn muse or something. Or at least burn out the editing compulsion so I can write in peace. Anybody want an idea-bounce?

Work ethics what work ethics. At some point, I just had to accept the fact that I won't be able to have my cake and eat it too, so whatever ambitious idea I had for my story in the beginning has now been whittled down to a more manageable size -- and yet somehow I'm still having difficulties. If you reply to my email, don't be surprised if you receive a barrage of woes in return.
