Nice light show there, Doctor. I'm guessing the fireworks are just for fun?

[makes an innocent face as he sets up the next one]

Ohhhh maybe.

Good idea, though--going for ships in the sky.

Yes, and it's lower than Orion in the sky--well, in the sky in general depending on the time of year.

But what do you think of this? [pats his creation proudly] If you'd come to see me in the observation deck, you could've seen my test run of it!

[smiles apologetically, he didn't think he was aiming that close at the highest points in the city!]

Ametatsu, it's okay! They're not going to hurt you--okay, it might bruise a bit--but you should be fine where you were! There's no need to panic.

[Congratulations, Doctor, you've made her get off the high rises.] It's fine, Doctor.

Are you sure? No stray particle managed to hit you?

[Busy working on the stars, Presea wasn't paying much attention to the sphere... At least, until the pretty light show started, and the stars began to explode. Luckily, away from her area... But she is curious enough to walk down to him.

And stare at the contraption.]

[grins at her as he's loading another 'firework']

Oh hello there, Presea! Loved the axe work, by the way.

Thank you. What... Is that?

This--[pats it once the firework has sailed off into the sky]--is a one-of-a-kind compact accelerated package delivery system, specialising in highly combustible materials.

[She eyes the contraption and the light show with some bemusement.]

I apologize, I know nothing of an explosion nor a crash. If you could inform me about them it would be much appreciated.

Not a problem! About, ohhh, four, almost five months ago--give or take a few days--something inside the ship exploded. Not sure what, unfortunately. I was trapped inside this Enviro-dome at the time with a few others and some kind of snow creature. Everyone else on the outside was subject to random explosions of different degrees of severity. Some passengers got hurt pretty badly while others got simple flesh wounds. But after a while, everything stopped. No more explosions and we were able to leave the Enviro-dome. [sounds very casual about all this]Now, three months ago, something happened to the ship's controls. Again, I'm not certain what caused the ship to do this, we didn't have access to the bridge at that time. But once we neared a planet called Eos, the ship drifted too close and got caught in the planet's gravitational pull. And the ship crashed, needless to say. Most of the lower decks were crushed and ruined when the ship landed partially in the ocean ( ... )

Was there also something that tampered with peoples' memories?

Something or someone. I believe that what brought us here been able to tamper with each and every one of our minds. No one can recall the last few moments before they were taken. [and he's checked memories to verify this too.]

[Moves out of the way just in time, but hovers mid-air watching.]

It is an interesting device to say the least, very much like a ballista. [Is mildly worried, he never really had much threat from the ground before.]

[pauses for a minute, giving naesala time to get to a safe position before he sends another "firework" up]

A ballista? What's that, some sort of cannon?

kingnaesala April 20 2009, 19:10:13 UTC
[He flies a bit lower, and moves further to the side.]

I'm afraid that I don't know what a 'cannon' is. [His world just developed crossbows in the last few years.]

A ballista is very similar to a pike, however, it is around 4 times the size of a pike. It is then mounted on a frame that projects it into the air. [His distaste is apparent.] It is a coward's weapon. [A pause as he gets himself under control.]

I mean no offense, your device is obviously not meant to be a weapon.

Ah, never mind about the cannons. Big, noisy weapon. [the ballista reminds him of a giant crossbow from the description.]

None taken, my friend! This is merely like a...[pauses, searching around for a good, basic description]...glorified fireworks slingshot, but without the bit of elastic at the end.
