Bad: finding out your dad has died.

Worse: finding out your dad has died by reading it in the obituary section of the paper, not because anyone has bothered to call you.

Even Worse: finding yourself and your good for nothing  brother have not been listed as your dad's survivors.

This is what happened to my friend H. today.  At least her job has given
