[Locked - Living Room of 502 Ricardo Street]

[The day goes by as nothing really seems out of place... all except for that little girl sitting on the floor. Photos, some in and some not in frames, scattered about all around her. She gathered most to all the pictures she could find in the household and decided to spread them out to get a look at ( Read more... )

[Oh well hello slightly younger girl. He wasn't really expecting a new kid to come in, but he guesses it's about that time of month again. And honestly? He knows this won't last, so hell. He might as well talk to you while you're here. None of the others lasted more than a month anyway; Pokey's pretty much been mainly alone for the last year. And despite being jaded in general, his attitude to new housemates is more jaded then usual. He just doesn't show it.

He'll sit on the couch in the front room, shrugging.]

Yeah. That's me. Got a problem with it?

[It amuses the girl to know how indifferent the boy seems to be with her sudden arrival. Clod knows for a fact that this is her first encounter with him, so there were no off chances that they could have ever met. It very well may be that this isn't his first encounter with a random "sibling" appearing from oblivion.

She makes a mental note of this reaction and continues.]

I was wondering who this boy is that I appear to be so familiar with in all these photos.

It's as if we're family.

It's what they want us to be.

[He rests his chin on his palm, keeping his eyes on the girl. If he realizes you're partially leading the conversation, Clod, he isn't showing it.]

They bring us from wherever we're from to pretend we're family. If we don't do what they want? We get punished. Do do what they want? Still probably get punished. Also? Anything that belonged to you is gone now. You'll get a bit of it back about once every month or every other month. You can also use the post office. But, uh, I don't suggest that.

[You hear that, Pokey? It's the sound of a child laughing. The tone doesn't imply that it's out of malice or inability to accept conditions as they are. No, it's out of genuine delight. That sort of child's laughter.]

But this place has done nothing but shower me with gifts. Perhaps too much of a good thing is suspicious.

Tell me more about these punishments, little one.

[Kiritsugu isn't usually the type to walk around town, but he needs a few things from the electronics store. Unfortunately, his hero compulsions start acting up right when he gets close to Clod' pained expression.]

[He does not say anything, though, merely slowing his pace down to near-immobility.]

Hello there.

[Clod calls to Kiritsugu who appears to simply be passing by. She didn't notice that the man looked at her, though. All she wants is to talk with another person that came to this place.]

Isn't this a nice day?

...

[Well, now he has to respond. He'll try to make this as quickly as possible, in the interest of getting on his way and gathering materials.]

I suppose so.

What are you doing outside wearing that a suit like that? Black isn't the most comfortable color in sunny days.

[Clod slowly approaches Kiritsugu.]

[ And once again, Lust's faith in humanity totally drops and she finds them all mostly stupid and foolish BUT she has to help this girl out or Mayfield escape plans will be held back ]

Mayfield isn't a happy town.

[Clod can only laugh at how completely honest Lust was being about this place. It seems that not everybody makes much of an effort to hide their real feelings. Interesting enough.]

That's right, it isn't.

But as far as prisons go, isn't this one of the nicer ones out there?

If you can count a town where prisoners are assigned to kill each other as "nice" then I am not sure if I want to see what you define a mean prison is?

If something exists, then there's always worse out there. This place was made, so others like it probably exist too.

My name is Clod. What's yours, Miss?

You're certainly taking it much better than most people do.

There's no reason to be sad. Everybody's suffering too. It wouldn't be fair for only me to cry or throw a tantrum.
