Do you feel speedy or manic at all? Can you focus and get tasks done?
I failed SO badly on Lamictal that I'm scared to try anything else, but I've been on Depakote for 14 years and my doctor wants to switch me to something that won't be as hard on my liver.
I take Lamictal too and added the Abilify. Lamictal was my first wonder drug keeping me from going manic and now the Abilify is keeping the depression under control.
I have not had any manic symptoms as of yet and the focus is great. It seems a little like a good caffeine buzz but not speedy. No jumpiness or jitterbugs.
It was my wonder drug....until it started giving me heart palpitations. ;.;
Risperdal did less so and they lessened after a while, but then got REALLY BAD when I started taking Wellbutrin.
I hate meds....I hate being med-sensitive...I hate that I have to rely on them to be vaguely functional. Yay. Wish Abilify had worked out. (However, do be sure to have your blood sugar and such checked regularly-all newer atypical antipsychotics are strongly suspected to cause diabetes in patients. o_O)
i'm glad abilify worked for you! out of all the antipsychotics, that one had the fewest side effects for me but the dealbreaker was uncontrollable muscle tremor. i havent been able to take any ap's since (tried abilify, geodon, saphris) and now i am only on lamictal, which has been the backbone of my med schedule since day 1, and adderall.
I have been on abilify for the past 4 months now and although I am on a considerable small dose (15mg) I am doing very well.
I started going outside more, playing with my son, sleeping less during the day and more at night and I even got a job. So abilify has done wonders for me...
