new pdoc; new meds; new hope?
Bean has been functioning; but, not necessarily where we know he could be. But, I've been waiting to see his new pdoc.

What a different style this guy has.

He's much more holistically approached than his last pDoc. And he changed Bean's meds, because I reported, and Bean reported to him that his impulse control, ( Read more... )

Depakote made me sleep all the time to the detriment of everything else in my life...but if he feels hyper on it, looks like he won't be dealing with that side effect :-)

Sounds like the new doctor is really awesome! Getting the family involved is definitely a plus, and he really seems to be listening to you and that is rare to find!

I had the same side effect as dangerduckie. I was sleeping 17 hours a day.

Glad to hear that things are getting better. The new pdoc sounds awesome. I would love to have a pdoc that listened like that.

epilim (as we aussies know depakote) made me sleep and gain weight. He's on a really low dose though, and if he says its making him hyper ... well then sleep might not be an issue!

I do find though, sometimes when my dose changes and my body is adjusting, I go manic as hell for a few days until it settles in. And im on 25mg seroquel as well, which I find compliments the epilim nicely, sort of helps bring down any residual mania.

I don't remember it making me sleepy, but I always took my depakote at bedtime anyway, and for the life of me, I'm not sure how much of it I was on.

Looks like we're moving to Renton for now. I STILL wanna get to Snoqualmie/North Bend/Issaquah eventually. Will comment more on your other LJ.

I was on Depakote back in 2005. The p-doc at the hospital put me on it after I had what they said was a a hypo-manic episode. They started me out on a really high dose (1500 mg) and had to cut it after a week because the level was too high and reduced it to 1000 mg and discharged me. About 1-2 weeks after I was discharged I saw the new p-doc who said she wanted to reduce it to 500 mg but forgot to send in the order/rx so I stayed on 1000 mg a month longer than I was supposed to ( ... )
