Ola:

My Doc just gave me a script for Kolonopin today to help with the Panic and Anxiety but I know very little about it.

Anyone with any words of encouragement or dismay that they can give to me?

I would greatly appreciate it.

I used to take it, and it worked great for me.

Good luck!

Very very mild benzodiazepine tranquilizer, I used it during acute attacks for a year. People that use it chronically can get addicted, but if you're careful, the risk is very slight. I felt a little out of it the first couple of times I used it, but after a while I got to the point where I could pop one, wait for it to kick in and then go back to work.

One thing I've noticed about this drug is that it affects different people a lot. I needed 1.5 mg to feel calmed. Other people can take .5 and it will knock them on their asses. Take it once at night to see how it affects you. If it knocks you out, no harm done.

Hey Feral:

I have been or am suppose to take 1, 3x a day. I know that will knock me out.

I think though, because I know I can chew it up when I feel a panic coming on and know it will only take 10 min. I will use it as a P.R.N.

Never thought I would ever try it when given one by a friend of mine during a attack that they tasted like mint. :-)

Guess that is a carry over from other drug use when I was a bit younger

Awesome. Using it 3X a day as a prophylactic is a recipe to be groggy and addicted after a while. I'm totally with you on the P.R.N. use.

Besides that, it helps keep you aware of your aura of panic. If its anything like mine has been, being more aware of your body can help you learn to fight the panic feeling by meditating or otherwise focusing your thoughts elsewhere.

Yeah, it's different for everyone. For me, by itself, it doesn't keep me asleep. I have to take Seroquel with it. So far, so good.

I like it. To me it's better than Temazepam ( blech! )or the other benzos I've taken.

I hope it works out for you!

Be well.

Hi Waffles:

I never had good luck with Serequel... They gave me that to counteract the effects of Remeron. I hated both so when I found a real Doctor I was willing to try anything she gave me.... Hence the new "Tick Tacks"

do NOT ever mix it with alchohol. Had a guy almost die at a party I threw a few years back because he was on the stuff and drank
