It was back to both work and softball today after the three-day weekend. The kids gave it a good run, but the game got away from them and they ended up losing 15-11. Given that the other team was 50% travel players, it was a good try.

Today's softball game did not go as well as yesterday's, partly due, I suspect to a bit of fatigue in the hot weather and partly due to the other team playing an essentially perfect defensive game. It's Friday and the weekend is here and things were supposed to be slowing down. However, once again time is failing at its basic purpose and everything is happening at once.

At work, we were able to solve one problem with a bit of insight that I had. It hasn't solved the *other* work problem, but I am gaining traction on it. The problem is that we haven't yet been able to duplicate it in-house, so it's a bit harder to debug.

The kids finished up their Opening Day softball game that got suspended due to time. They came back twice to win in the regulation seven innings, 18-17. It was an impressive game. :)

The kitchen is almost done -- just touch-up work remains. And installing the outlet covers, which is going to require some new, longer screws.

I'm working on a project at work that *almost* works. Now, I just need to figure out the almost part.

Today is Julie's 13th birthday. It's also opening day of the softball season for K. And Gretchen had a hair appointment scheduled for this morning.

I have a great many balls in the air right now.

Let's see if they get caught.

Today is the day before Julie's 13th birthday. She wanted to go out to Red Robin for dinner tonight instead of tomorrow, so we headed out that way after work and a good (and filling) time was had by all.

Tomorrow, we continue the birthday celebration and start the softball season.

Sunday, we have our annual fantasy baseball draft.

I got up early today, as we had another scrimmage game for K's softball team this morning. It went pretty well. Everyone's still learning the new rules and having a chance to actually *play* under them is a good thing.
