So how small is smaller? We're currently living in 800 sq. ft., it has taken a bit of creative thinking on occasion as well as getting rid of some things, but we're pretty much managing (the basement would be nice to have bigger, though, and less moldy).

Something on the order of 940sq.ft. We're currently in a 3 bedroom 2 bath place that is 1120sq.ft. I don't see it as much of a change, really, but there's less corners and closets we can hide stuff in, and we're also stuck with an extra bed and a grill we can't currently use.
