So Hubby just ordered the Kindle Fire to replace the very original Kindle that I got him about 3 years ago. I should have researched and waited a bit for it because it wasn't very user- friendly and was not back-lit just to name a couple of complaints.

Now, since the iPad's introduction, I've scoffed and had made an extreme declarative statement that I was boycotting it and all tablets. We have laptops and iPhones with this useless thing being a combination of the two - yet another gadget, another thing to add to your messenger bag and what for?!

Yesterday, I attended the annual PhotoPlus trade show at the Javits Center in NYC. I sobbed when I saw iPads mounted to camera tripods to preview the shot before taken. I wept at how many cameras have these zillions of buttons when with film cameras, there are 3 things you need to set - focus, aperture and shutter speed and to me, makes it easier to concentrate on the image taking. Oops, I digress.

I ran into a friend there and during lunch, she took out her iPad and showed me her latest work. ( ... )

I'm sorry - it's been such a busy week that I haven't had time to answer comments.

When the iPad 2 came out, The Unindicted Co-Conspirator and I got in line at our favorite Apple store. We ended up going away empty handed, but during the time we were in line we were entertained by a boy waiting in line with his mother. He was a remarkable photographer, and he had his whole portfolio there on his iPad 1.

I've already ordered a new one for the Unindicted Co-Conspirator. Shhhh!

I am really loving my new Nexus 7. I prefer to read rather than write on it, but I am using it right this minute to read my flist. I think the killer app for me is Pocket. I can now read almost any Web content that way.

I'm an Instapaper user myself, and it works on all of my platforms. It's nice to have a place to stash stuff for later consumption.

There is one thing that I really love that Apple doesn't have: I swoop my finger up, and if it's early in the morning it tells me the weather and how the traffic looks from here to work. If it's late afternoon and I'm at work, it tells me the traffic to home.

I keep waiting for Apple to pick up a little more intelligence. Siri, every evening when I reach a particular location, I ask you to call my wife. Shouldn't you have learned by now?
