It's been about 10 days since I saw the allergist who told gave me a laundry list of food I'm suppose to be allergic to and I have been trying to watch what I eat ( Read more... )

Everyone's tastes and food priorities are different, but there is damn little a doctor could tell me that would make me eat margarine instead of butter. (I suppose "you're so allergic to dairy proteins now that even the trace amount in butter could kill you" might work - but nothing short of that.)

It's not that it's going to kill me rather just reign havoc. A friend of mine told me about a butter substitute called Earth Balance and it tastes exactly the same as butter, I use in everything that calls for real butter. I do understand where your coming Furr it's weird having a doctor tell you to stop eating something you have eaten your entire life. For the time being I want to try doing this and seeing if there are any changes in my health. Now if he had told me no beer, then that would be completely different.

Karl (CountryHam) is so allergic to dairy that he can't even eat jam - a trace of butter left in the jam is enough! Ever since he stayed over, I wipe the knife before dipping it in the jam... part and parcel of being Food Safety Nazi. :-P
