Spock is the love of Kirk's life (and hey, it's not just me saying that for once!)

I'm happily working on meta, but I must share some brief K/S squee I've indulged in recently, and I get so used to tumblr sometimes that I forget that the majority of my flist doesn't use it and therefore doesn't get to see all that we collectively talk about.

There was a slew of Star Trek programming on the Biography channel a couple of weeks ago ( Read more... )

slash, their love is oh so canon, boldly slashing where i've never slashed, space husbands, yeah i'm a trekkie whut, art

I'm sorry. Spork just reduces me to keyboard smashing. I feel I really need to watch that, but only if it comes on TV again. Most likely my mother will look at me funny when I am trying to suppress so much squee at one time.

PSSSSHHH LOL that second piece of fanart is MY FAVORITE THINK IN THE WHOLE WORLD

I'll have to keep an eye out for it for you! I really wish it was available for download, it was a good special.

I LOVE THAT PIECE. It describes why I have trouble getting into TNG. :P

I know, EVERYONE remembers Spock's sacrifice from WoK, but hardly anyone talks about how much Kirk gave up in SfS. For fuck's sake, it's even addressed in the movie itself, via Sarek asking Kirk flat out at what cost he did all that and Kirk's like, I had to do it, and Sarek is like, dude but you lost your ship and your fucking son, yo, and then Kirk is like I DON'T THINK YOU FULLY UNDERSTAND OUR RELATIONSHIP.

Maybe this is why I have trouble getting into TNG, lol. I've watched a couple of episodes though and while it's true that they behave more like a real command team, I miss the husband and wife going together on landing parties. There's a certain je ne sais quoi in TOS. ♥

Well, at least someone outside the K/S world has understood that Spock is Kirk's love!
I really need to watch this now: it should be interesting to see the Captains compared. ^^

I know, I'm sort of banging my head against the wall about the "love of their lives but no sex" thing, but it's very cool to at least see them acknowledge how important their relationship is and it's a relief that reboot is well aware of that fact, all het aside.

It was very interesting, and it was even interesting for someone like me who has never seen other series. In fact, I liked how it introduced me to each captain and I think, based on the captains, that I would like Sisko and Janeway, though the whole Borg story arc with Picard has me wanting to watch that as well. I really wish there was a must-see list of episodes so I don't have to watch every single one. Maybe I'll ask one day, when I don't have something else to watch before it. :)

I admit I'm intrigued by Sisko as well, after watching Trials and tribble-ations (DS9 5x06 - if you haven't seen already, go and watch! ;)) and the episode set in the Mirror universe (the doctor and the engineer of the series ending up in the Mirror universe, a century and more after "Mirror, Mirror" events): he seems funny in a more Kirki-sh way (hell, he's a Kirk fan-girl in 5x06!!) than the other Captains (Picard seems boring as hell, as a friend who was -trying to - watch TNG for Q told me) and an online friend of mine says the series is spectaculary hilarous but also covers politics and racism against alies (or something like that, not exact words).
I also watched the Mirror universe related two parts of Enterprise (4x18/4x19) but... Archer is no way Kirk, so... and the green, wrapped up shirt on him looks awful. Though the infamous episode with the male pregnacy (1x05) was funny. :)
I had to watch a couple of TNG for TOS' sake (the one with Scotty and the one with Bones) but... no, that series doesn't rub me.

They're the conspicuously straight duo, lol. I do sort of love how it's Picard who's the Spock-like logic and thinking character and Riker is the sort of ladies man and adventure ho! Kirk character.
