Someone posted the alternative ending script for STXI on ontd_startrek again, and if you haven't read it or know what it is, you are totally missing out because while the ending of Star Trek was awesome, the alternative ending is geared more towards TOS fans because it has Shatner ( Read more... )

ASKMGLE:LASDJ I seriously almost teared up reading that. :'( I agree with you that actually filming/having it in theatres would have been too much of a cheese-fest for casual filmgoers, but the FACT THAT IT EXISTS. ♥!!!!!

I know that if I would have seen it back in May, I'd be confused as hell and would only really appreciate it once I was in fandom, so yeah, it was better off without it. I mean, I went to see it with my mom and it was only her going, LEONARD NIMOY and then whispering that it was the OG Spock that I even knew why the cave scene was poignant.

But ZOMG, IT EXISTS, MOTHERFUCKERS.

Hell yes, how many times have we heard "what feels right" in romance movies? And SPOCK telling Spock to go for his emotions?!?!

Aw damn, I need to read the Countdown comic because now naysayers can claim that Spock took it with him because he thought he was gonna die. It's still gay, because THAT'S WHAT HE CHOSE TO DIE WITH.

I need a fainting couch. All I have is an armchair in here and you can't really faint with a hand dramatically to your forehead the same.

Ooh you're right, always right. :D

And LOL, your bff was totally right about that. Even my sister, who NEVER sees slash or promotes it, watched one TOS episode with me, City on the Edge of Forever, and halfway through she turns to me and goes, "damn, why is Spock so damn jealous?"

And she's totally right, he acted SO JEALOUS for seemingly no reason, and the only real answer has to be because of Kirk and Edith. Spock doesn't really care a lot about Edith, so gee, I wonder what he was jealous about.

OH YOU!

YOUR POSTS NEVER NEED TO STOP? OKAY.

And I'm just going to say that I locked the post on my reaction to the deleted end scene, because, um, hell yes I was crying and emotional and not logical and shit. Kudos for you and your flist posts!

What really got me was--
I suppose I’d always imagined us… outgrowing Starfleet together. Watching life swing us into our Emeritus years... and For people like us, the journey itself… is home.

HOW ARE THEY NOT A BONDED COUPLE?! The growing old together quote is practically a cliche used in every romance. UGH. SO MUCH BEAUTY IN THIS. I WANT. SO HARD.

Personally, I think the reason it wasn't included in STXI wasn't necessarily because it was too gay, but rather too goopy in general. I mean, it's great knowing that it exists, but if it was really included in the movie? I'd kind of loose it's Star Trek badass-ness and turn into full blown WTF. IDK. I think it's cuter that it's kind of a STXI secret, and makes the K/S romance more believable.

DON'T ENCOURAGE ME, I COULD POST TEN TIMES A DAY WITH K/S GAYNESS AND NEVER RUN OUT IN A YEAR, LOL.

Oh my god, HE WANTED THEM TO GROW OLD TOGETHER!!! :'( It's so sad, but sooooo sweet. D'aww, now I want Kirk Prime/Spock Prime in which they just live in a cabin and are all old and cute together, bickering (well, as much as Spock bickers) and kissing and holding hands in rocking chairs. *SQUEE*

And you are of course right, it's a much better movie without it. You'd be getting way too deep for a movie that's about introducing the characters to new audiences. The next movie we can go tearful.
