You know it BB. :B

Ummm...let me break the news to my wife first...so she won't go into a jealous rage and kill you. Once she finds out you like Spock as well...she should be a little more understanding.

^^^The reasons why I stopped slogging through Trek fic for a significant amount of time. MY GOD. Especially the genderswap. Why so much genderswap in this fandom?

And bad genderswap at that, because it's not genderswapping when they've always been girls. I pretty much read stuff on rec lists now, because I stumbled across too much crap, and only rec lists from people I trust. :/

SO AGREE WITH #1 UUGGGH PET PEEVE.

On #4 HEY SOME OF US ARE LAZY :P Seriously though I'm terrified of trying to describe planets and stuff and messing up and subjecting myself to the wrath of more seasoned Trek fans D:

#5 YES, YES, YES THE CAMERAS THIS BUGS ME. Obviously I've NEVER written something in the captain's chair ^^;

#6 Ugh so much older TOS fic is written in such a different more romantic sort of style blaaah

Ooh ooh ooh I read a fic once with Spock exploring his sexuality or something and sleeping around. Don't remember how believable it was though.

In regard to #4don't worry about describing and messing up shit. What's great is that you can make up planets and races and seasoned trekkies can't critique you because it's all new and shiny. :D

And OH GOD, the purple prose in a lot of TOS fic. I've read a few that were fucking amazing, but for the sugary, flowery language. I read one about Kirk and Spock having this issue with saving each other and McCoy figures out it's because they can't say 'I love you', so they have a h/c syndrome, and sends them to work it out on a planet full of miniature animals, and the planet was so unique and squeal-worthy (for fuck's sake, Spock gets pwned by hand-sized bears and there's little unicorns, squee!) but it was ruined because of how freaking cheesy most of it was.

1. !!! THIS!

2. I want Jim Kirk pissed that he's on his period. More of this yes please and thank you!

3. I HAVE TOTALLY READ A FIC ABOUT REBOOT!SPOCK FUCKING A TREE! I wonder if I tagged it...

10. WHY WHY WHY human? He is Spock because he isn't fully human. That's what makes him special.,

I have been thinking of writing a genderswap fic myself because I wanted one where they don't know if Kirk will turn back, but Jim has the same hair, features, clothing choices and everything, but he's a woman with a period and has to deal with the stigma of not fitting in with the ladies because he's still him but he no longer fits in with the guys, but he still fits with Spock. But then I'd be adding to the problem of too much genderswap. :)

Spock fucks a tree. Or, the one that made my eyeballs bleed.

And pretty much the only AU Spock-as-human one I really like and would rec is
Symphony for Stars and Planets because it's wonderful on its own, but the author actually keeps their characterizations intact.

See with Chapel, I don't know what she looks like in reboot and it's hard for me to imagine her and her mannerisms. I've mostly read her as a bamf woman who takes shit from no one, and really OG Chapel is more gentle and sweet. And I admit, I am a one pairing girl, so I don't read rare pairings in fandoms.

It's all pretty much bad, but the one that I would rec even if it does this horrible thing is Symphony for Stars and Planets because they keep their characterizations intact and it's just a really great story that you don't even care that it's an AU of AU.
