Do I still have a job?

Last week I was scheduled 5 days. Then, on one of the days I was off, when I had plans to eat out with my mother, I was called in for that night. I was annoyed to say the least.

The next night, I wanted to go home early because the next morning I had to get up at 8am because an electrician was going to go to all our apartments to check to see the plugs and wiring were up to code. So I asked the manager (the lowest one on the chain) if I could go home early, since I did a favor for them the night before. They had already sent one guy home when he came in. Once midnight came around there were too many drivers and it was slow as shit, but I still had to stay until 3am.

So of course I didn't get enough sleep.

But the other drivers keep on telling me that sleep is overrated. I guess that's the new cool thing to do.. not sleep. "I've been up for 72 hours and have only slept 3 hours this week, I have balls of steel! (and a cock the size of a baby carrot)." Only if they want their health screwed up by their lack of rest and their life expectancy to go down a few years.

Next night I inquired if I could work a shorter shift again. And again I had to work until 3 and by now my hours this week were over 40, with no overtime.

The next night I had to work again. This time, the manager said I could go home when I walked in. This pissed off another driver. I told him I had worked 6 days straight, and he said he had worked 7 days straight, so the manager said "Fine, go" to him. But before he could leave the driver who was sent home on the day I wanted to leave asked if HE could go home. I told him that he had already gotten a day off 2 days ago, which got the response "So what?" This started a swearing match between me and some of the other employees, where I was cussing about the fact I had gotten little sleep lately and suspected I'd have to work all night this night as well and put my hours over 60 this week....

and then the manager told me to go home, and not to come back until he called me.

He isn't the main manager, but I'm still worried. I had to call into work today because of car troubles, and they said that I was still scheduled for today, but when I asked what other days I worked, he hung up... possibly on accident.

Another guy I drive home every night says he's been working double shifts a lot. These Nazis need to stop fucking overworking their employees. That's why so many people quit or are fired.

stupid job
