In a way, the Santana hate is justified only because she's seen as no better than Karofsky. He was a confused/scared high school kid as well. Bullying should not be tolerated anywhere, by anyone. I'm guessing the hate comes from people who were probably bullied themselves, as I was. That being said, I love Santana, I just vehemently disagree with the way she expresses herself.

Yeah, the way I see it is that someone can only be a hateful asshole to others for so long and expect sympathy. Santana doesn't care about the pain she causes other people, so why should they care about hers? She's a character I really want to root for, but she makes it awfully hard sometimes. And I'm not the biggest Finn fan, but his assessment of her cowardice was right on the money.
