Tell me why I don't like Mondays

It’s been unseasonably cold the past couple of days, and today is grey and rainy and lord, did I not want to get up! But I rarely want to get up, I confess. Hope everyone had a good weekend!

This week’s blog at my website is on saying yes to gay YA and how GLBTQ characters are needed in YA lit of all genres. It's disheartening that in 2011 an ( Read more... )

I think youth aren't getting enough credit.

As someone with a teenager, I think you're right. She would have no issue with GLBTQ characters in YA lit. Also, have these agents not heard of Glee? Kurt/Blaine are very popular with her and her friends.

And that was a good episode of TAR last night! I like the showgirls, too. I was sad to see both of the teams that left go, though. I liked them. The only team I really dislike is the brother and sister. Why did they want to do this? It's not just sibling rivalry with them - they seem to actively dislike each other. It's unpleasant to watch.

Right? Teens don’t need everyone in YA to be white and straight! Sheesh.

Ugh, YES. The brother/sister are the only team I’m actively disliking at this point. She in particular seems unreasonable. Sibling rivalry and bickering is one thing, but at the train station they were fighting about NOTHING. It wasn’t even a stressful situation - everyone was going on the same train and were waiting. They’re unpleasant and I hope they go soon, or shape up.

YES. Absolutely.

Also? Let's go home and back to bed. :D

I left my thoughts at your blog, but to summarize, I think they ran into someone who was totally out of touch, because YA regularly deals with gay issues and all kinds of other real-life stuff.

I sincerely hope so! Although I think it’s definitely a good thing to bring it to light and get people talking about it so it doesn’t happen again.
