Band of Brothers

Burned through the rest of Band of Brothers on the weekend, and I'm rather disappointed in myself that it took me 10 whole years to watch this show. So, SO good. Obviously heartbreaking at times, but also a beautiful testament to the power and bond of friendship. I thought it was amazing. Great, great cast. ron livingston, herr fassbender, damian lewis, something gay no doubt, fangirl alert!, band of brothers

While I had some issues with season 2 after the stellar season 1, the finale of Life is actually one of my favorites ever. But of course, those "and they lived happily ever after. The End." endings don't sit so well with me. I prefer confirmation of certain key emotional elements, but I want everything to be open-ended.

I should rewatch BoB, it's been a while since I saw it...

I'm okay with open-ended. Honestly, at this point as long as my guy isn't hit by a fucking train, I'm good! I'm definitely going to watch, thank you!

I just finished BoB and I'm already jonesing to rewatch -- at least certain parts. I'm rather blown away by it. I learned a Canadian-centric POV of WWII (and during the Holland episode, my Dad was like, "We were the ones who really liberated Holland! The Americans helped a bit, but it was mostly us!" heh) so the Bastogne/Battle of the Bulge stuff was fascinating. I'm sure it was touched on in history, but high school was *mumble-mumble* years ago and I didn't really remember much. I can't imagine the conditions.

It's one of those things where I expected to like it, and then the Winters/Nixon love just snuck up on me out of nowhere. Will definitely lend it to you!

You know, if Rufus from Gossip Girl had been more like Speiers from BoB, the show would be a lot more interesting.

I love BoB, because the whole series is one "Hey, it's that guy!" after another. My mind was blown when I realized Tom Hardy was Janovec. Jamie Bamber was in it before Battlestar Galactica. And now McAvoy's a big star...and Fassbender was in it as well! Despite all the gorgeous men on display, my love was reserved for Matthew Settle's Speiers and Speiers alone. I...realize this means I have issues, heh.
