Oh, David E. Kelley, how you offend and annoy me. Or is Jason Katims (I can't believe this is the same man who did My So-called Life. I weep.) to blame these days? I watched Boston Public last night, for the third or so time this season. Wackiness ensues when there's a midget around! Hey, aren't little people funny? Let's put Vern Troyer in a locker, sneaking kids test answers! Gold, Jerry, gold!

Sigh.

Okay, so wasn't Jeri Ryan's character a corporate lawyer? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think corporate lawyers know as much about being a criminal lawyer as I do. (I mean, hey, I watch Law and Order.) And now she's assistant principal? She hasn't even been to teacher's college!

The court case was ridiculous, and if I wanted to watch The Practice (which I really, really don't), I would. These two little assholes pay two homeless guys (one of whom is clearly not sharp, mentally) to fight (with a bonus for drawing blood) so they can videotape it for their website. One guy dies from his injuries. Jeri Ryan argues that reality TV is to blame, citing Fear Factor by name and making a clear reference to Joe Millionaire, but not saying its name. (Hey, FOX, if you're going to bag on competitor's shows by name, you could at least have the balls to do the same to your own.) She says that these kids are bombarded with people's pain as entertainment, and that if they were producers in Hollywood, they'd be getting a fat pay cheque. Um, you forgot the part where the one guy DIED.

There's a reason street fights are illegal and gimme a fucking break that reality TV is to blame! These jerkwads paid two drunk homeless guys to beat the crap out of each other. As stomach-churning as reality TV can be, there's no comparison. One of the kids compares himself to Don King, saying he's just a boxing promoter too. Oh, shove it. Boxing has rules and referees and is not illegal. (And as far as role models go, Don King is not a good one, IMO.) Jeri also says that they really don't understand what they did was wrong. Well, going to jail should change that.

But Jeri's brilliant defence works wonders, and the little bastards escape the murder rap and are charged with lesser crimes.

The thing that's so grating about BP is that the show is often laughably ridiculous, yet they take it all so seriously. How is this crap actually on the air?

In other news, work is blowing massive chunks. It's tempting to go up the street to the hospital, kamikaze my way past the security guards and have to be home-quarantined for the next two weeks. I could really use a vacation. I figure just getting into the lobby shouldn't be too risky for actually contracting SARS, right? Oh, okay, I'll stay at work.

let me tell you how i really feel, random tv
