Desmond Descant is understandably tense. Thankfully, the fact that he didn't have to watch Jack do unspeakable things to a hostage prevents him from being more tense than he could be, but it's certainly not helping matters that he's been up and down this whole damned hotel and he hasn't found Martha yet.
That worries him. Immensely.
So he's standing in the lobby, which has been cleared out by now for safety reasons, pacing the floor and chewing on a fingernail, wondering how the hell the universe has conspired against him in such a short period of time... And he still has a twinge of a hangover, which means little to him at the moment, especially when his heart is already fearing the worst.
And damn it all, he can't even use the goddamned elevator and do precisely what he's told the Doctor a hundred times not to do.
