Maya heard the explosion and went running to the elevators.
Problem was, she was still a sun bear. No, she hasn't figured out how to transform back yet; it's getting, in all honesty, damn bloody annoying. There's not much she can do as a sun bear.
However, she has learned from Rose that a four-foot tall, fuzzy animal can rack up points on the comfort scale fairly quickly, so when she proved useless in the chaos, she made a beeline to the medical room, installed herself looking after anyone injured or frightened, and did her best to look adorable and cuddly. Not something she has a lot of experience with, but the sunbearishness is helping with that.
If anyone in the infirmary needs a giant living teddy bear to hug, it's the least (and apparently most) Maya can do.
