[Locked] I came across a place in the middle of nowhere, with a big black horse and a cherry tree.

[Backdated to the end of Rift Tales plot.]

About a week ago, Scarlett Langford found herself no longer human - but a horse. She first spent her day with a lion, adored by his followers and finally… she met Peter. She was only going to ask for help at first, but somehow, she suddenly felt compelled to follow him.

So, for the last week, she’s been ( Read more... )

Peter is going to be very confused when the sun comes up, and probably have a few things he'll apologize for, especially once the rift's effects wear off of him. As it is, all he knows is the horse that's stalking him is not happy about the early-morning wake-up time.

He sighs, adjusting the sword that no, still hasn't struck him as odd to have replacing his gun, thank you rift interference, and takes a look up at the sky. It's starting to get light, just a little, over the horizon; not enough to say the sun's risen, but enough to say it's rising.

"You know, if you'd decided to follow somebody with a stable, you wouldn't have to be dragged out when they wanted to go out in the morning," he points out, with no idea he's being understood. "Or if you'd stay behind when I tie you up. Then you could stay at the Tower while I go out. And then I could stay with my wife without trying to get a horse up the stairs."

"Yeeeah, funny thing about that, lar." she says with a laugh, snorting gently, "I can't not follow you around. Actually can't. That Rift's made me follow you, not matter what, innit?"

Scarlett muses at that particular memory from the last week. She was a little bit uncertain about the stairs, she didn't think they'd actually work her for. Hooves and flights of stairs will never ever work out well.

"... Well, I guess it's not been too bad hanging around you," she says finally as they enter the park, "Jesusfuck, it's annoying because you can't understand me. And you were fucking mental for chasing that dragon... but yeah... it was alright,"

She pauses for a moment, nudging his shoulder gently with her nose. "M'not saying I like you though," she says quickly, "Really not, 'cause well--"Anything else she was going to say is cut short. The sun rises and she's hit with a sudden pain. Wailing, she rears up before falling awkwardly in a heap on the ground. Snorting and squealing, she feels her bones beginning to change again. But she doesn ( ... )

"You're restless today," Peter comments at her musings, and she gets a pat as they stop and she nudges his shoulder. For a second it's really pretty nice, the stillness of the morning -- Peter always has been kind of a morning person.

Then she starts going crazy.

Peter frowns, going to reach for her reins and steady her, but she falls to the ground before he gets ahold of them. That just worries him; granted, it's been a long time since he's taken care of horses, but he's still pretty sure that falling down for no apparent reason when they were okay a minute ago isn't a good sign.

"What the hell?" he mutters, confused and trying to figure out what to do next. It's not like he has a vet on speed dial to call for advice. Or even a cell phone on him, for that matter.

He's still trying to figure it out when the change starts to visibly happen, and then he's even less sure what the hell is going on, let alone what he should to do to help.

"I'm always restless," she tells him idly, "I'm a fucking horse,"

The transformation is painful, to say the least. Bones shrinking, reforming, some of them disappearing all together. It's not an easy thing to go through. Her body tenses up and soon enough, there is no longer a horse sprawled on the ground, but a very naked teenage girl.

Scarlett blinks back tears, still working on the pain. She's not going to cry. She wants it to just go away, but it seems adamant on lingering. Breathing labored, she shivers violently in the cold.

And then, she finally looks up at Peter. She's not embarrassed at the fact she's naked, she's more annoyed than anything else. But it doesn't stop the deep crimson blush seeping across her face. She's not entirely sure what to say.

Ultimately, she goes for the first thing that pops into her head. "For fuck's sake, Peter. If you ever try to feed me carrot sticks again, I'll fucking deck you,"

Sorry, Peter. The insulting defense is all she really knows.
