Mio Hongo is in a bar. Or perhaps a restaurant. Or a mall, or a theatre, or--anywhere really, but the point is that she is not in her office for once. She's taking the night (or afternoon, or morning) off and doing something that would be construed as ( Read more... )

Spencer is standing at the roof, not quite near Uchiko-chan but not too far away either. He's taking a moment to himself before he goes inside, taking a moment to breath because he kind of needs it.

he doesn't want to have this conversation, not really. he doesn't want to let anyone in and he doesn't want to confront a few of the things that are going on in his head and he really doesn't want to do it with other people.

But he agreed to this and Mio has some things that she needs to talk about too, so here he is.

Closing his eyes and forcing another calming breath the closes the gap and knocks on the door, forcing himself to put on a little bit of a smile as he does do.

The door opens and there stands Uchiko-chan, wearing her usual red kimono. ::Spenspen-san!:: she mindspeaks happily. :: Hiiii, welcome! Mii-chama said you'd be coming~ :D She's not here quite--oh, here she is right noooow.::

Sorry, Spencer, but Uchiko-chan (at least the human-shaped part of her) is going to go and teleport-glomp Mio now. Not that she doesn't like you, Spencer, but...well, Mio is kind of like Uchiko-chan's mother, favorite big sister, and best friend all rolled into one, so she is automatically Uchiko-chan's favoritest person in the whole wide multiverse.

"Oof," Mio says, coming up to the door behind Spencer. Uchiko-chan doesn't have any real weight, but it still feels like she should when she glomp-tackles Mio out of nowhere.

"Hello, Spencer, sorry I'm running a tad late," Mio says, greeting him a bit more properly. "Come on in."

He looks up at her, his expression slightly jostled. It's not that he isn't used to her, exactly, he's just in his head a little too much right now. "Hey there," he says with a smile, then, at the mention of Mio, he turns to the door to meet her.

He laughs at the sight of them, a small bit of the tension leaving him as he does so. It's a reminder that this isn't' actually a bad thing, that this is something that is going to help if he lets it. It's just a matter of going through the process that he doesn't want to really muck around with.

"Oh, it's no problem," he assures. "I just got here anyway."

He will follow them into the house, his eyes closing as he steps inside. He likes Uchiko-chan, he does but there's still a lmall part of him that marvels about the fact that the house and the girl are the same thing.

Inside the house is airy, and furnished with elegant but understated furniture. The color palette seems to be mostly maroons and warm browns compromise between Mio's preference for muted tones and Uchiko-chan's love of bright colors. And, if Spencer looks closely, he'll notice the interior of the house is larger than the exterior. It's not completely obvious unless you're looking for it, because the ground floor matches up pretty well with the outside, but there is one very big telltale: a staircase leading to a second floor in a house that appears to be only a single story tall from the outside.

"I'm going to put some water on for tea. Would you like anything?" Mio asks.

Theta is kind of entranced by Uchiko-chan. He's been following her for a little while now, just watching as she decorated the Kashtta and wanting really badly to join in. He's not working very well today though, his hands are shaking and his brain is wrongwrongwrong.

But he wants to watch. And maybe talk to her if his works are working. He'd like that, to talk to her, to say hello and tell her that the glitter in her hair makes her look like a fairy, that all of it does. She is his fairy of Autumn, at least for the moment.

Uchiko-chan pulls her tablet computer out of...somewhere. A dimensional pocket inside her physical-house-self, probably. Don't question these things too closely.

She holds the board up so Theta can see. It reads:

HIIII~~ ❤

I'm decorating! Wanna help? :D?

His eyes go wide at the fact that she seemingly pulled the computer out from nowhere and even more at the colors

"Yes! Oh yesyesyes!" He's bouncing on the balls of his feet, grinning like an idiot. "I'll do whatever you want, I will. Just go on and tell me. I can reach high places if you want! Or cut things Or..." He's not sure, he's just grinning now., looking very, very bouncy.

Uchiko-chan grins at Theta's reaction.

Abby's been in Chicago a year and half now, and she's still yet to make her way to the Kashtta. She keeps meaning to, but school gets in the way, or she gets sick, or she goes to see her brother first and gets caught up hanging out with him, or she passes a car on the way and decides her brother would like it.... Well, you get the picture.

But now she's finally made her way there, in time to run into Uchiko-chan and her decorations, and the whole thing makes her smile. She likes decoration, she likes making things, and she likes people, so she approaches, waving if the girl notices her before she speaks. "Can I help?"

Uchiko-chan grins and waves back, a shower of multicolored glitter falling from her hands as she does so. Getting glitter everywhere is one of the best part of doing crafts after all!

Uchiko-chan nods cheerfully, indicating that she has more than enough craft supplies to go around.

::Do you mind if I use mindspeak? It's a bit hard to use my tablet when my fingers are covered in glue.::

::I'm Uchiko-chan, by the way? What's your name?::

The mindspeak is unexpected, but Abby shakes her head immediately. "No that's fine! Should I just keep talking, or do I just have to... I don't know, think at you?" she finishes with a little laugh, sitting down and picking up a piece of paper.

"I'm Abby. What are you decorating for?"

Uchiko-chan gives Abby a little bow. ::Hi Abby! Nice to meetcha! You can keep talking normally, I can hear you just fine! I just can't talk, cause this is just a psychic projection and not an actual body with, you know...organs and stuff.:: She nods, clearly very proud of her explanation.

::And I'm decorating for fall! I thought this place looked too boring and plain so I'm making leaves to put up on the walls and make them pretty!::

Hopefully Mio does not mind company, because it's a crowded bar and the stool next to her is one of the few available seats in the place. Peter doesn't actually know her, but he thinks he's seen her around the Tower before, so he gives her a nod as he waits on the bartender.

He's not against conversation, he's just prone to waiting for other people to start it, and a little preoccupied trying to catch the bartender's attention.

Hopefully there will be no monsters tonight. Or explosions. Peter really doesn't want to deal with crazy rift antics, he just wants a beer. The rift does not always care, though.

Mio absolutely does not mind company! If she didn't want to talk to people, she wouldn't come to a bar. It's not like she can drink any of the alcohol there, after all. (At least, not without it ending badly for all involved, and Mio would prefer to avoid situations like that.)

Peter has probably seen Mio around the Tower quite a few times before. She spends nearly all of her time there, after all. It's just that with all of her duties she tends to be too busy to talk with individual residents as much as she'd like.

"Good evening," Mio greets Peter absent-mindedly as he sits down. She hadn't really been paying attention to him, but she'd seen him in passing before just enough times that she does a double-take. "...You look a bit familiar. You wouldn't happen to live at the Kashtta Tower, would you?" she asks.

"I do," he answers, turning a little towards her, taking a closer look as he does. "You work there, right?"

He's asked around enough to have some idea of the people in charge of some kind, and he's mostly sure he's right. He hasn't had to actually talk to anybody in charge yet, but it seemed like a good idea to have an idea who to go to in case of anything.

"Indeed I do," Mio confirms. "And far too much, some people have argued, which is why I am here tonight."

She sets down her drink and holds out a hand for Peter to shake. "Mio Hongo. I'm the head of Torchwood there. Nice to meet you."

Phoebe gave Mio a good talking to. She doesn't do this often, as she respects her far too much to do so, but when Mio's well-being is at stake? Phoebe will not hold back the metaphorical punches. The woman had been running herself ragged, and as both a guardian and as her friend and co-worker, she couldn't let that happen, and all but demands that Mio take some time off from work.

They decided to go out, for a change, and Phoebe's going to be waiting for Mio in the garage as promised.

There will be food and hopefully dancing, but more importantly, there will be all the relaxing.

... Please allow them to do the relaxing thing, Chicago.

And Mio is very appreciative that Phoebe gave her that talking to! She is well aware of her own tendencies for overworking herself, but being aware of those tendencies and knowing when to stop herself have always been two very different things.

Mio comes down to the garage just a few minutes after Phoebe, wearing a sequined belted tunic and leggings and dangly earrings. She even decided to redo her makeup for a more smoky-eyed evening look. Hey, if she's going to be going out on the town tonight, she might as well do it right!

"Hey, Phoebe! Looking good tonight. You ready to go?"

Phoebe turns to greet her, a smile already on her face, and it freezes in place. Her eyes widen a little, her heart begins to skip a beat or two, and the flood of emotions streams through her chest until she feels it might just burst. The feeling itself is familiar--she felt it with Jack over a year ago, but she doesn't know how this has happened.

She recovers quickly, if only so she doesn't ruin their night, though she does plan on telling Mio once it's over. "You--you look good, too! Great, even," she says, and she moves forward to give Mio a small hug, swallowing thickly as the implications of it settle into her chest, her heart, and her mind.

"I'm ready," she says quietly, in more ways than one.

Mio feels a slight jolt, like she had just shocked herself with a bit of static electricity.

"Wha-?" she blurts out, but she shakes it off.

"Then let's go. What do you say to Caribbean food?"
