On July 4th, there is another wanderer community event for the first time since March when a bomber nearly killed everyone that attended but instead killed two people who chose to sacrifice themselves so the rest could live. These two people were friends of many including Martha Jones, but it is important to move forward and not let grief stop them

Neal has convinced Peter that going out for the day is an excellent idea. They've separated at the moment but he knows the other man isn't too far away.

He's wandering around, looking closely at what the pier seems to have set out for them. Nothing immediately catches his eye,, though eh does wind up lingering around the stained glass museum to take a look.

This many people all crammed into one general areay doesn't escape him though. His mind thinks of how simple it would be to get away with something, anything, but he pushes that aside in favor of wandering a little more.

Sophie's doing a bit of wandering herself. For once this seems to be a rather tame as far as Chicago is concerned, so she's planning on relaxing and enjoying herself, for however long it lets her.

She's making her way down the pier, looking at the different displays, when she happens to spot a familiar man heading in her direction. She smiles, just slightly, before making her way closer.

"I have to say -- you clean up rather well when you're not waterlogged and wave-swept."

He laughs, his attention breaking from the display. "What can I say," he starts. "Not even I can pull off drowned rat."

He is more than happy to be dry right now. Call him crazy but he has had enough apocalyptic floods in his life.

"You aren't too bad yourself by the way." He smiles. "But after that whole thing,, I've gained a new appreciation for being dry."

Sophie feels the same way, really. One Apocalyptic flood is enough for anyone. She smirks a bit as she moves closer.

"Why thank you," she says with a smile. "I was always a firm believer in you are how you dress."

He laughs. "I can't argue with you there. " Bet no one saw that coming.

"Some of the art this city has is wonderful," he says then, his eyes returning to the stained glass for a moment. He's had some time to explore what the city had to offer before the Flood. It's not on part with some of the other places he's been but it's nice. Plus he has an appreciation for anywhere that isn't New York at this point (not that he doesn't love it but four years of staying in one place does get tiring.).

"I always did love Chicago," she sighs softly. "It has such character. I've been spending a lot of time in Boston lately, but I've always been meaning to get back here."

"I've passed through it a few times," he informs, his eyes scanning some of the art before them. "But I never stayed for long, so I never got a really good feel for the city. It's really not bad aside from all the really i8mprobable things that like to happen." He laughs softly. "Though I guess you could say that it does add to it's character."

She smiles. "Well, my Chicago didn't have quite the same ... character, but still. It was a rather enjoyable city to be in."

"You know," he says with a small chuckle. "!As much as I have come to find this versions' of Chicago's various quirks, lets call it charming, I can't really say that i see a lack of character as a bad thing."

"I couldn't agree more," she sighs, turning to look in the window. "It keeps things interesting, if nothing else. Definitely a lot of fun."

"I think 'fun' is a nice way of putting it." he laughs to himself. "I was pretty good at making my own f8un back home. I really didn't need any help."

"So was I. But that doesn't mean a bit of shaking up wasn't needed." Sophie pauses. "Though this much shaking up is a touch extreme."

This is superlate, I know and if you just want to let it drop, I am okay with it.

"I was going to say." He laughs, shaking his head. "Of course, it could always be worse but at this point, I'm pretty much expecting anything to happen, so I think my standards have also dropped when it comes to anything resembling normality."

"Sad to say, I agree," she sighs. "And I haven't been here that long."

Not that she has much of a standard for normal.

He laughs. "Neither have I. Only a few months and yet Chicago has managed to horribly warp my standards. I can't decide of that should be a point of pride for the city or not."

Neal has standards for normal! His standards don't really match other people's but they generally don't.

Sophie's standards for normal aren't exactly that either, but she's always been one to adapt in the end. If you don't adapt, you die, after all -- especially when you're a thief.

"At least you're adapting. It's what you need to do, after all."
