On July 4th, there is another wanderer community event for the first time since March when a bomber nearly killed everyone that attended but instead killed two people who chose to sacrifice themselves so the rest could live. These two people were friends of many including Martha Jones, but it is important to move forward and not let grief stop them from living and celebrating life.
They are all travelling together by bus (or people can show up at the pier) to the Navy Pier for its 4th of July bash. There is so much to do that's already provided by the Navy Pier, and Martha has given everyone enough money to do whatever it is that they would most like to do within the Pier if they didn't have money of their own. There are multiple stores. There is a giant Ferris Wheel that over looks the park along with other rides. There is a carousel, mini golf, wave swinger, a fun house maze, and a light tower ride. There's a stained glass museum and a Children's museum.
There's live entertainment available. There are restaurants for food, but there are also street vendors to get a quick bite while enjoying the view. Obviously, the Rift might play its own shenanigans on individuals like it always does, but none of it is enough that it will ruin the evening for everyone.
And to end the night, there will be a large fireworks display to end the evening with. Everyone is supposed to meet again together to view the fireworks as a whole group though that's hardly required. It just seems like something that will be nice, and this time, there is absolutely nothing at all that goes wrong.

There is no tornado coming to rip through the events.
There is only a small group of wanderers, angels, demons, and supernatural humans taking what they can and living as normally as they can for the evening at least.
Sometimes that's all they have and that has to be enough.
