Shawn tried to warn them.

He stood in the middle of Grant Park, screaming until his throat was sore, but did anybody listen to him? Noooooo. They just went on about their day, ignoring the crazy screaming guy in the park. And maybe they should have. Maybe, if it wasn't him, he would have. But he figures that it's all a moot point now. Chicago is flooded, and Shawn?

Well, Shawn has a boat.

He thinks it's a rather nice boat, all things considered. He also may or may not have stolen it, but he figures that people can thank him for it later. He's driving his boat through the streets of Chicago, looking to pull up whatever people he could and keep them from getting swept away by the waves. The rain is still coming down, and it's making it a liiiiittle hard to navigate, but given the fact that his father practically raised him on a boat, he's doing okay.

He hopes.

A boat? Rose could certainly use a boat. The drenched rat look is definitely not for her. At least she didn't have to worry about drowning, given how she didn't need to breathe to live. In all her years, Rose never expected to be in the middle of an Apocalypse. Things like that never happened back in Mystic Falls.

When Rose sees the boat from her vantage point, she waves frantically and yells out to catch the attention of the person steering the vessel.

"Hey! Over here!" She can see through the rain clearly so she would make an excellent navigator if Shawn needed one.

Shawn catches the sound of someone shouting that they need help, and slowly starts to steer the boat out in that direction. As soon as he gets close enough, he tosses out the life preserver attached to the boat and shouts out to her.

"Grab on! I'll pull you in."

Thank goodness he had heard her and Rose feels a little more relieved. She reaches out and grasps the life preserver firmly in her hands before nodding at him. Definitely a human as far as she could tell.

"Okay, I've got it. Pull away."

Buffy has been having a hell of a day.

She had been patrolling when the first tsunami wave hit the city. Strong, fast and agile Buffy may be, but she's also tiny, and when you've got a wall of water like that coming at you, it's not likely that you're going to manage to keep your feet. But she runs anyway. It's a spike of adrenaline that shoots right through her, and she just runs until the water overtakes her, and she can't run anymore. It rushes over her head, and the fear and panic is overwhelming. She needs to swim. She needs to kick to the surface. She needs to survive.

Then comes the pain.

She isn't sure what's happening to her, but it's excruciating. She opens her eyes in the water and is privy to the sight of her arms and legs growing to the size of tree trunks, her face lengthening and distorting, and her just generally getting bigger. Before she even realizes what's happening, she's an elephant, and she's still surrounded in water. She would be more than content to keep panicking, but she also realizes that ( ... )

It can be said this is Sam's first official disaster. Subconscious week might have come first, but this definitely takes the cake. He's lost his journal and it's floating around somewhere. Sam's trying to find it so that he can write to Dean, to Buffy and Cas, to any of his friends to make sure they're all okay.

The worry is what keeps him going for what seems like days.

He moves through broken car doors and bodies.

The water's begun to recede but the dead bodies are still floating around, and he stares at it all with a stunned look on his face, like he can't quite believe this has happened. He'd heard about the plagues, he's heard about plenty of disasters, and God knows his own life has been nothing but a whirlpoool of them.

It's still something else entirely to see it firsthand. Sam keeps moving, and he won't stop while he helps whoever he walks past, while also keeping his eyes open for people he may recognize.

Sooner or later he'll stumble onto Buffy, whether that's in her elephant-shaped form or her... naked girl form.

Buffy is exhausted. She nearly drowned today, and as the exhaustion increases, the adrenaline and panic fades. The more she sleeps, the more the panic slips away, and in turn, so does the elephant. In the end it leaves a naked, passed out Buffy on her stomach in the mud of Grant Park, completely oblivious to whatever's going on around her.

If you find her, Sam -- that's how. She hopes you have a sweatshirt she can borrow.

He does not have a sweatshirt. He does, however, have his jacket, which he immediately shrugs out of to place over her body. It's only until she's covered fully he picks her up, cradling her to him. In any other circumstance, Sam would've been awkward and fumbling about finding a woman naked. Finding Buffy naked, for that matter.

As it is, he's just relieved he's found her, and she's alive.

Castiel remembers the Flood ( ... )

She knew the flood was coming, could feel it in the air long before the waves hit. She stayed in her apartment when the waves hit, stayed in high ground until only the rain was left.

Now though, she's out, looking at the damage. She wonders if she should have warned people if she should have tried harder to tell anyone who wasn't those she didn't care about.

And she wonders where that guilt comes from but she tries not to think about it.

She sees Castiel and approaches, watches him carefully but doesn't say anything. She lets him preform what he sees fit before tilting her head at him and arching a brow.

He feels Aurora before he actually sees her. He doesn't specifically know it's her, but there's something about her -- power recognizing power, most likely. After he's finished his prayer, he opens his eyes and looks over at her. He recognizes her, they've spoken before, but those were different circumstances.

"I trust you are well? The flood didn't ... do too much damage?"

wordoftheroses May 22 2011, 20:02:09 UTC
"No, I live on high ground. We were fine."

She looks out at the damage then back at Castiel,, then at the body. "But it seems the city can't say the same."

Millie was out when the flood hit.

She managed to not get completely swept away but she is now sporting the drowned rat look along with the 'Oh god, oh god' look. It's an interesting combination.

She's trying to make her way to the Kashtta, though she plans to stop at the Crowbar first, just to make sure everyone's all right.

That is, if she can manage, of course. She very easily could just end up drifting down the street until she can find somewhere high up to hang out.

Charlie is sitting on the fire escapes of one of the buildings, wings out and clearly agitated. It isn't that he minds getting wet. He's always been a strong swimmer. But things like this make it uncomfortable for him to do the job he does without drowning himself.

He's used to his Calling, but he gets really annoyed when it tries to get him killed.

He happens to see Millie floating by him, and his arm shoots out to grab hers, trying to see if he could pull her in close and get her on solid ground. He's doing his best to use his wings as a counter balance so that he doesn't fall in the water himself, but we'll see how well that works.

She latches on, swimming hard against the current until she can latch onto the fire escape and hoist herself up.

She she smiles gratefully at him. "Thanks," she says cheerfully. "Think i was just gonna wind up floatin' all through the city if it weren't for you."

"No problem," he says, returning the smile. "When it rains in Chicago, it pours, doesn't it?"

Charlie's never met her before, but he knows an angel when he sees one. And his wings being out are probably a dead give away for him as well.

Neal is sitting on top of a car, soaking wet.

He would like to be doing other things right now and he would like to be doing them dry but right now he's going to count his blessings. It seems like the smart thing to do.

He's keeping an eye out for anyone who might look like they need help, though he has little to offer other than a shared seat until things calm down a little.

It's better than floating down tthe street though, or so he thinks.

For her first major Chicago event, she has to say that this one is certainly ... eventful.

When Parker told her that the city is dangerous, she never thought that she meant like this. She expected your typical city dangers -- thieves, murderers, radicals -- not natural disasters. But as of right now, she's wet, she's lost, and she's starting to not like Chicago as much as she used to.

When she floats her way to the car Neal, happens to be sitting on, she kicks back, trying to fight the current just enough to stay put. "Room for one more?"

Neal understand entirely, this is his first event too. If he had known it was going to be so wet, he would have started paying more attention tot the weather channel.

He spots her and reaches out, grabbing her and trying to get her onto the car. "Yeah, c'mon. Plenty of room."

She grips his arm and pulls herself up onto the car, settling in next to him with a sigh. "Never a dull moment, eh?" she says with a bit of a smile. "Not every day Chicago gets hit with a flood of Biblical proportions."
