Iris has noticed the snowball fights periodically occuring in the park. She's also noticed the reindeer ( ... )

"I-- know it must be weird for you and everything," she says, lacing her fingers together and apart again in a nervous sort of gesture. "But, I mean... that's like saying Molly can't have any relationship ever. And that's not fair on her."

She glances over at him, hair falling in her dark eyes. "...I mean, you're a Guardian. This is... sorta what you have to deal with."

And then she blushes, because she's just realised-- that statement includes her. Unless Kaden happens to be celibate, which... is really something she has no clue about one way or the other, sooner or later she's going to have to feel that from him.

And that is going to be awkward.

Suddenly, she can see his point.

But that doesn't mean she's going to give Molly up. It's not like she'd insist Kaden give up sex for her sake, either.

Ran would actually like it if Molly never had a relationship of any kind. Not that he wants her to himself, quite the contrary, but he also doesn't want to have to listen to her fuck anyone either. He'd actually prefer it if her and Iris sat around and played chess instead. Not that he can play chess, but he assumes Molly is smart enough for it.

"Would you stop if I told you I jerked off to it?" he asks. Not that he does, but he figures if she doesn't care that it makes him uncomfortable, the idea of him getting off to her and Molly might stop it. He's really willing to do anything at this point, especially since Molly isn't likely to listen to him.

...Iris is all of the flail, Ran. All of the flail. Which you probably expected. For long moments, she stares at the floor, the bedcovers, anywhere but his face.

She might actually not need Molly to thaw her out at this rate, after all. She's blushing enough that her body heat alone might just break the curse.

"...Um, well..." she mumbles eventually, "I mean, I think that people, you know, shouldn't be embarrassed about these things, and things...."

And then she pauses. "...I thought you didn't like that stuff?"

He's doing a mental victory dancing when she asks him that question, and for a minute it floors him because she's right. It does gross him out, but he was hoping she wouldn't remember that.

Ran may act stupid, but he's actually cleverer than people think. He's not book-smart, but he's managed to live on his own for several years now, so he's not precisely stupid, despite the way he acts. He thinks quickly, even if sometimes his thoughts aren't the brightest.

"I was just saying that..." he says with a shrug. "Because it's... a lot less fucked up to be disgusted by sex than to be jerking off to a pair of lesbians." Not that he's grossed out by either, but normal people are, right?

The red face is not going away. Really not going away any time soon.

"I... I admit I don't really understand what you mean," she stammers, folding her hands in her lap. "I... I mean, I don't understand being disgusted by-- by sex, really, I'm not sure I...."

She's not sure she thinks that's particularly healthy, but she isn't exactly going to say that.

"--but I, I don't know, is... that so strange? I mean, I'd rather you didn't-- to me, you know, that's kinda... but if you feel it, I... I don't know. Is it weird?"

Because she's really not sure any more. She used to think sex was an okay thing, but now people are telling her so many different stories she can hardly keep them straight. Or gay, as the case may be.

Ran's really trying to keep up with what's she's saying, but there's all those pauses and stuttering, and now he's bored. Even when Molly goes off on her completely pointless tangents he has an easier time keeping up. What is she even talking about any more?

"It's not like I can stop feeling it." He's tried. He actually spent money on several bottles of liquor to try and drown as much of it as he could. It didn't entirely work, unfortunately.

"But you can stop having it... whatever it is that you two like to do." He tries not to think about it. There's too much touching involved, and Iris is still alive, so clearly that touching didn't lead to death.

Iris linefaces at him. "I don't want to stop having it." She's still blushing vividly, but her words are also firmer. Now she has something she actually wants to convey to him, she's managed to curb the stammer.

"I'm... really sorry if you can't handle being her Guardian, but... that can't be my or Molly's problem. We're not doing anything that's unusual for people our age. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to break up with her just because you don't like it."

Which is about as harsh as Iris ever gets, if you're not actively hurting someone she cares about. But she's starting not to like this Ran character, and she can tell it's pretty much mutual.

Ran's dislike of Iris is about on the same level as his dislike of everyone else, except unfortunately he can't avoid her, so he's taking it out on her verbally and emotionally. If he could manage to break her and Molly up, he might actually be more pleasant to be around.

"What about Molly's new boyfriend?" he asks, raising an eyebrow. "How is that going to effect your romantic love story?" He's being a little harsh now, but he really wants the sex to end.

And soon.

Not going to happen, Ran, honey. She's in this one to the end. Molly'll have to do a lot worse than have a boyfriend before she can get rid of Iris. A lot, lot worse.

Though that doesn't mean she's exactly happy with the idea. Her mouth remains in a line, though the look in her eyes shifts from hard to sad.

"...I wish it didn't have to happen," she says softly. "But it won't stop us being together. She's not with him because she loves him. She's only with him because she has to be."

Now here is the moment Ran has been debating for weeks. Does he tell Iris that Molly actually wanted this fake boyfriend of hers, or does he let Molly continue playing her game? He's pretty sure Molly brought in this bloke because her relationship with Iris was making her all twitchy, but apparently not, seeing as Iris is here now.

He sometimes wishes that damn family would keep him more in the loop. If he fucks up Molly's plans she'll never stop bitching.

"She tell you that?" he asks, shrugging. "Well, if she says so. Molly rarely does something unless she wants to." There. He hasn't straight out told her, but seeds of doubt are always fun.

Okay. Now Iris is pissed. She knows he's trying to plant doubt in her, and she's done taking this crap from him. Also, she's freezing and miserable and she came here to see her girlfriend, not argue with her snarky-as-hell Guardian.

"How dare you," she snaps. "What would you know about her emotions? You might feel her pain, but I'll be surprised if you have the capacity to feel her heart." She glowers at him. "Or anyone's, for that matter."

She stands up abruptly, turning away from him. "--Well, if Molly's not here, I'm leaving." She makes her way towards the door, still trying to rub the numbness out of her fingers. "...Please don't get in our way."

Because ultimately, when it comes down to it, Iris can't not let the please slip in there. That's not to say that she likes Ran, not in the slightest. And she's certainly going to be having a chat with Molly about what he's been saying.
