[OOC: We did this post last year, and it became our highest comment count post ever. 2,267 comments. It doesn't matter if we get up to that number again, but it has become tradition! This is open for all of December through January for any holiday/winter shenanigans. :> Tag in with the same character multiple times, make multiple new threads, think up your own situations that are not on this post of wintery things to happen. ETC.]
It is winter again in Chicago!
In Grant Park, there is an epic snowball fight going on at various times throughout the winter season. Occasionally, it is the trees themselves that start the snowball fighting or join in. Yes, the trees themselves. This is Chicago! Anything can happen. Like reindeer, wandering around the forest.
There is decorating happening around the city in the Tower, in the Gauche, and in apartments and houses around the city. For those who don't enjoy decorating, there is likely someone around who will be more than happy to coerce them into joining in, hanging holly and snowflakes and mistletoe. There are sweets being baked.
Speaking of mistletoe, there are bunches of it chasing people down and remaining over their heads for an entire day. It seems as though fire, bullets, and knives have no effect on this mistletoe, but it leaves many people open to being kissed by random strangers on the street.
On one day of the winter holiday, gumdrops and chocolate fall from the sky, not from the sky but right above the treeline thanks to a thin, widely spread Rift over the park. On another day, it's night from morning to evening on one day, time passes but the sun never shows. The sky is filled instead with
the Aurora Borealis. There is one day that most people may want to stay in. The temperature is so cold that some people going out in it will turn blue, tips of their fingers covered in ice, and they won't be able to warm up for the rest of the day. It is not the normal effects of a day of this temperature so you'd better believe it's Rift created. Another day has some people reliving their old memories of past holiday seasons.
These are only a few events that are happening over the winter season. Many more adventures and fun and (as always) pain is happening throughout the city during this time.
