I got that boom boom pow

May 03, 2010 11:38

Luka is in the Conrad workout room, blasting the Black Eyed Peas' "Boom Boom Pow" from a pair of portable speakers she found in there and doing what looks something like a cross between kickboxing and an aerobics routine. She's open to interruptions, though you might not want to step between her and the punching bag.

Mio is in the Kashtta tower, ( Read more... )

One Sailor Mercury has completely taken over Tosh's workspace. The problem with cracking Tosh's system is that while Mercury is brilliant, so is Tosh. It's been a while since she's actually had something challenging to work on, so it's honestly appreciated.

"...is it possible that I can help you?" she asks, blinking slowly at Mio. She's not entirely sure what this woman is doing here; she doesn't exactly recognize her.

Well, if it isn't Sailor Mercury. Mio wasn't aware there were any Sailor Senshi here.

"Perhaps," Mio says in Japanese, figuring Sailor Mercury will be more comfortable speaking in her own (and Mio's own) native tongue. "Sato-san had been trying to fix some things of mine; I thought I'd come by to get them back since she's no longer here."

Japanese is definitely a relief. While Mercury's English has always been good, it's so much easier to form her thoughts in Japanese.

«Ah,» she says, pushing the chair back and standing up. «I'm afraid I don't entirely understand her system yet, but feel free to look.»

This will take some time away from her ability to work on the system, but she doesn't want to get in anyone's way, either.

«Excuse me,» Mio says bowing to Mercury. «I should be relatively quick, and I'll let you get back to what you were doing ( ... )

Where there is the smell of delicious food, there is probably a Huck, at least if the food is in her place of residence and, if the journals are any indication, probably free. There is, at this point, also a Jon and a Billy, because the three of them have not been getting out of their room much.

And also, given the recent ravenous-rift thing that went down, Huck really doesn't want to leave her Pack somewhere while she gets food, because she might bring it back to an empty room or something.

So she wanders in, boys in tow, and immediately pokes her head into Mio's personal cooking space to smell the delicious. "That smells awesome," she declares, resisting the urge to just steal a bite with her fingers -- for one, the food's still hot and all. "What's it?"

"Lemon mustard sauce for Chicken Fricassée," say Mio, stepping slightly aside so Huck can see the contents of the pot she's stirring better. "Chicken's almost out of the oven. Why don't you grab a plate from the cupboard and serve yourself some salad while you wait." Mio gestures to a big bowl of salad on the table.

Salad is the proper way to start any Western-style dinner, in Mio's opinion. Besides, if she's guessing correctly, Huck and the boys probably don't eat nearly enough vegetables as they should.

Huck takes the opportunity to step in a little closer, peering into the pot. She's close enough that a few strands of hair run the risk of getting in the food, though she catches them and runs them back behind her head (and stands up as she does so) before they turn saucy. And not the good kind of saucy, though Huck might argue that there isn't any good kind of saucy.

"Chicken'swhat'm smellin', I bet," she declares a little excitedly. Meat is a Huck's favorite type of food. All the meat.

She does wrinkle her nose just a tiny bit at the salad suggestion, but hey, free food's free food and if she's going to try and make Billy eat it, she's going to have to eat some as well. So she grabs some plates and shoves them in the direction of her two Packmates. "A'right, y'ain't gettin' no meat if y'don' eat no trees," she tells them. With her Srs Face on and everything.

Jon gives Huck a half-angry, half-incredulous look. "Yes, mother," he says, then shoves Billy forward. "Go eatcher trees," he tells the kid, pointedly giving his Alpha a look that says he's not eating any of that salad. Because ew, thank you very much, and also he's almost eighteen. He can eat terribly if he wants to. Even if his Alpha tells him otherwise.

Billy, for his part, shuffles over to the salad and spends a good while picking only lettuce out of the bowl. He's not eating any of the weird other things in it.

Jon's just going to lineface over here by the door, thanks.

Mio may run into Jack on her way to or from Tosh's work area. He's lurking around, fitting his wrist device back onto his wrist.

After so long - very long - without it, it feels almost foreign. At the same time, he wonders if it's the foreign-ness itself which is strange. It also feels right.

He looks up when Mio comes into his field of view, trying to work out if he's seen her before - and, if not, who she might be. "Hey."

Mio is just heading towards Tosh's work area when she runs into Jack. Well, not literally runs into, she's usually more aware of her surroundings than that.

Mio looks at Jack speculatively. She hadn't been aware there was a Jack here. When she had first arrived, Owen had turned her over to Gwen, which led her to believe that Gwen was the one making the decisions in Torchwood. If there was a Jack in Chicago, why wasn't he in charge of Torchwood? She's sure there was some sort of story there.

Mio nods politely to Jack. "Hello," she says, her voice carefully neutral.

Neutrality. Jack catches both a smirk and a grimace trying to creep onto his face. Two people like us meet in a hallway, and...

"Haven't seen you around here before," he says by way of explanation, and then amends "Well, to be fair, I haven't been seen much around here myself."

Again - and it won't be always, he knows, he knows - there's a slight catch before he can extend his hand, use the introduction he always used to.

"Captain Jack Harkness."

"As arrivals go, I'm a relatively recent one, so it's not surprising," Mio says with a faint smile. Two and a half months seems like a long time when one is here against one's will, but the stories of Wanderers trapped here for two years and more puts things in bit of perspective.

Mio takes Jack's offered hand and gives it a firm, professional shake. "Mio Hongo. Pleasure to meet you." Well, not exactly, circumstances being what they are, but there's no way to tell yet if Jack's appearance at the Kashtta (or perhaps, reappearance?) has anything to do with the disappearance of the rest of Torchwood. Best to satisfy the forms of politeness for now even if they are technically lies.

Harry Potter has been around magic plenty. There's little that can surprise him enough of the unexplained that will make him stare. It seems like the impossible was made possible time and time again. A train that could only be reached by running through a wall. Brooms that fly. A giant, talking spider in a dark, magical woods.

He has never seen anyone with physical skills like what this girl in the workout room is showing, even the strongest athletes playing Quidditch couldn't do this

It makes him stop and step into the workout room. He doesn't know how to fight, not like that. There's no desire on his part to learn either. It doesn't mean that he can't appreciate the fact that someone can do something like this.

The... music's a bit odd, but he isn't paying attention to that.

[Augh, sorry for the late reply. The tag for this went to Mio's account, not Luka's, so I kept forgetting it was there.]

Luka feels Harry step into the workout room with her mindfeeling. She takes a moment to finish up the move combo she was doing, then she steps over to her iPod and turns off the music so she can talk better.

"Am I in your way?" Luka asks, turning to Harry. This is a public space after all, and she was taking up a large portion of the room. If he wants to use the room as well it's only fair to let him.
