Sam Winchester is standing behind the bar at the Luna. He's pretty sure Dean's got his hands full with some drunk chick, so it might be better for everyone involved if he stays out of ( Read more... )

It's not like Dean can't multi-task.

He spares a glance for Avery, who's doing magic tricks with bottles or something (which is a good way to attract customers, Dean guesses), then sidles up to Sam, nudging him in the side.

"Having fun?" he mutters over the noise of the bar.

"Not as much fun as you were having over there, seemed like," Sam answers.

He sets to work on tossing some empty beer bottles into the recycling bin. Avery's a stickler for recycling.

"You know me," Dean says, grinning. "Can't resist a good sing-along."

Or pretty drunk girls, but whatever. He cleans up a couple of spills along the counter, humming all the while.

"I could've sworn where you went through that whole phase of hating Journey," Sam says.

But then he remembers that that was Dean from his time, not the Dean here and now, and he distracts himself with cutting up more lemons for the garnish tray.

Elle is making her way back home, cutting through the park as she did so. It's during that short cut that she stops in steps. Not that she's never seen him covered in blood before, but it's been a while. And the last time she saw him with blood on his clothes, it had been his own. And he had pinned her to a beach right before killing her.

Or trying to. She supposes it didn't work as she ended up here. Not that any of that matters now.

She steels herself before cautiously approaching him as he practices his new ability. Her hand crackles with electricity a little at her side as she steps closer to him.

"So who did you steal this one from?"

It's interesting, this new ability, and he hasn't quite figured out how he's going to use it, but perhaps being able to manipulate wind will come in handy sooner rather than later around here.

At the moment, he's in the process of creating what looks like an impressive hurricane as she approaches, but it settles back into the air after he lowers his hand.

"A very pretty girl," he murmurs. "Shame what happened, really."

Elle watches the little hurricane as it died down. It's an interesting new power, she supposes.

"I'm sure it was a regular tragedy," she bit sarcastically. "Did you lure this one in romantically before killing her too?"

And as soon as the words escape her mouth, she regrets them. She's been trying really hard to not mention the romantic aspect of their relationship since he didn't seem to remember any of that, but the words just spilled out.

Interesting, of course, but he won't realize the benefits of it until the opportunity arises for him to do so.

Still, there's no time like the present to practice.

"Romantically?" He scoffs at the idea. "There was no need for that. I'm surprised you don't know my style by now."

Avery had told Kat to get to the Luna bar at some point. And today was a very long day, so she's decided she'll take that offer up. It's been a long time since she's gone out drinking, mostly because it's ridiculously difficult to get herself tipsy. If anything, she's worried she's going to make herself more alert. Well, focus is the key.

She sits down at the bar, watching her twirling the liquor bottles.

"That, is talent right there," she says, grinning at the woman. "You think that kind of talent could get me a vodka tonic?"

The bottle stops, poised gracefully in the palm of her hand, and she flips it over to set it down on its bottom.

"Not sure this talent actually has much of a point, but it's nice to look at, right?"

She gets to work on making that drink.

"Most talents don't," Kat points out, watching Avery as she starts in on the drink. "Fire-juggling? Not that useful, but very nice to look at. Magic tricks? Not that useful, still, very nice to look at. Apparently I have my mind of the circus because the only other talent I can think of is lion taming and I'm not exactly sure that counts as a talent at all. But the moment it's useful, it generally goes from talent to profession, right? If it were useful, you'd just twirl bottles instead of making drinks, right?" Her hands flail as she talks and watches Avery. For once, she actually remembered to take her lab coat off after a long day of work, but she's taken full advantage of the dress code at her new profession and is wearing a shirt that says, 'I'd rather be part of the precipitate anyway.'

Yes. She has a plethora of these kinds of shirts. Don't hold it against her.

On most people, Avery might be wondering if they just simply like to hear themselves talk. From Kat, she doesn't exactly get that impression. She's more amused by it, at any rate.

"If it were useful, I'd consider it," she agrees. "But twirling bottles doesn't exactly pay the bills around here."

Well, whatever thinking it is that Dani Reese has to do, surely she can tolerate the presence of one Charlie Crews.

Either way, it's the self-same Charlie Crews who is now finding himself a spot to sit next to his partner.

"How long've you been on that page?"

She doesn't answer right away - maybe because she's still mentally processing.

But after another second, she closes the book.

"I don't know. It's boring anyway."

"Did you read the back flap before you picked it up? Sometimes that helps to figure out whether or not a book'll be boring before you actually start reading it. Sometimes it doesn't work, though. Well, I guess it'd still help a little. The blurbs are even less helpful. Too many exclamation points."

A beat.

"How're you feeling?"

"Guess I didn't think that far ahead," she admits, sparing another glance for the book's cover.

"Good. Better."

She doesn't want to get into the specifics - or what led her to do what she did - but it goes without saying that having him there helped. And she's really hoping it can keep going without saying, because she's not a fan of saying much in the way of thanks.

"You been up to anything?"
