maybe I won't be so afraid; I will understand everything has its plan either way

Selina Kyle is wandering around Grant Park, looking incredibly confused. It's one thing for her to wake up in a different hotel room, but waking up in another city entirely is something else. (Little does she know this is all the Rift's doing - not just the displacement, but the fact that her alter-ego has been split into another personality, too ( Read more... )

Ricky's at the Luna Bar because he's pretty sure if he goes to his normal bar, there's a chance he'll run into Casey. And Casey is the last bastard on this earth he wants to run into right now. And well, he's drinking early because of Casey, too. Although, Casey wouldn't call this drinking. Casey would make fun of his light beer, and his inability to hold alcohol.

He wants to run out and see if there's anything that needs to be taken care of, but knowing his luck, if he does that, he'll run into Casey. Hell, if he goes home, he's afraid he'll run into Casey.

Casey is making his life far, far too difficult.

Bastard.

There's a few early customers - most of them regulars, some of them new, one in particular that Avery's got her eye on, and every time she comes up from the cellar to grab a new stack of boxes, she shoots a glance down the bar to make sure he's taken care of.

Once the last box is loaded up downstairs, she returns to the bar proper, washing her hands in the small sink and drying them on a towel before walking down to where Ricky's seated.

"You doing okay for now?"

"Always doin' fine," Ricky says, although his tone is bitter, and he doesn't sound convinced of it at all. He glances up at the television, wondering if the crucifixion will make the news again. This town is hell. Still, seems to be doing better than home.

Damn Casey, giving him hope that he could do something for this world and then just go and pull something like that. He made it clear that it's not going to matter. That he'll keep on going. It's not like this is the first time he's had a crush on someone who hasn't returned it. He's not about to force anything on her him.

"Could use another beer, though."

Oh, she knows that look. Seen it on her fair share of faces, that's for sure. And there's usually only a handful of things that can set things to rights - one of them being a willing ear, but the most obvious being a strong drink. Or five.

Avery nods and grabs him another, screwing the cap off with the small opener attached to her side of the bar.

"Here y'are."

Harvey tends to be found in Grant Park, which is where he is right now. It's a good spot to look for new people, after all, and he figures he should probably get to know people other than the ones he knows from Gotham.

So when he sees the young woman wandering confusedly, he can't help but head over, all concern. "Is everything okay?"

His face rings familiar in Selina's mind, but right now, she's much more worried about, say, how she came to be here than who may or may not have been on the local Gotham news.

"That's what I'm trying to figure out," she admits, eyes darting around semi-nervously.

"Well let's start simply," Harvey says, trying to be reassuring. "Do you know what city you're in? Don't think I'm trying to patronize you or anything, it's just -- weird things tend to happen here. Especially in this park."

There's a pause, during which she tries to think very hard about when she possibly could've wound up here.

"Chicago." It comes to her like a flash, and she's almost surprised by it, but when she utters the word, it's certain on her lips.
