Paul is settled in the common room, finally. It's taken him a ridiculous amount of time to actually adventure out away from Toby's room, but here he is. He's sitting upon the couch in the common room, carefully tuning his violin ( Read more... )

Kalevi is out wandering about, finding himself near the Conrad Hotel. Why he's there, he's not exactly sure; he impulsively got on a bus earlier, and just as impulsively, he got off the bus somewhere near the Conrad.

It's a particularly nice time of day, at least to Kale. As he's looking around as he gets closer to the Hotel, he stops paying attention to what exactly he's doing. The consequence of this course of action is to trip on an uneven spot on the walk and fall right into Ianto.

"Oh, crap! I'm really sorry about that!" he exclaimed as he got to his knees and began to pick up the myriad books and notes that had fallen out of his bag.

Ianto probably should've tried to move when he noticed the other falling, but his reflexes did not act nearly as quickly as he would have liked.

Stumbling to the ground, he blinks before looking at the scattered papers.

"No, it's all right, really." A small smile is given and he, too, kneels and starts collecting the papers and a book or two. "Are you all right?"

(OOC: My apologies, I was out of town and I forgot to notify.)

"Yeah, thanks." Kale is picking up the last of the papers and puts them in his bag. He then goes for his foreign language notebooks.

"Sorry, I should be paying more attention to what I'm doing," he apologized again. He notices a page that fell out of one of his notebooks; it looked pretty much destroyed. "Aagh, vöi rähma," he swears in Finnish.

[ooc: It's not a problem! Sorry about my late reply as well, I've been rather caught up.]

Offering out what he has collected, Ianto glances down to the relatively destroyed paper.

"Sorry y'had to lose one." There's a momentary, small frown given before his eyes lift to the other. "If you don't mind my asking, what language were you just speaking?"

He's used to a variety of accents from his own team (his being a distinct Welsh), so the language switch and whatnot really doesn't throw him off.

While Juliet did find Roger's guitar-playing enjoyable, she's a big fan of the classics so when she walks into the common room with a couple muffins on a plate that she nicked from the cafeteria and sees Paul tuning his violin, she immediately sits down near him. She can't help it. She hasn't heard a live violin since she went to a soloist's concert back when she and Edmund were still married, and it was always her favorite instrument.

"It's beautiful," she says by way of initiating conversation, nodding to the instrument.

Paul almost does not realize the girl is sitting next to him, actually looking at his violin, until she speaks. He smiles softly to her, almost brushing fingers against the strings affectionately.

"Merci," He looks up at her, smile broadening, "You like violins, then, oui?"

Don't mind his French accent (or any myriad of French lingo he might toss about), he's still getting used to this whole English thing.

"Oh yes," she nods pleasantly. "I like music in general, but I've always been kind of partial to the violin."

And the piano, but her taste for the piano sort of left her when she came to the island... Up until Jack started playing it while he was staying with them at the barracks, so now it's distasteful in a completely different way- it makes her remember what she's left.

And she doesn't mind the French. Not in the slightest. "So you're from France?" She asks even though it's kind of obvious. Juliet was never very good at this whole conversation thing. Comes from so many years of being that mousey little woman who very rarely spoke.

"Me, too." Paul brightens quite a bit to see she's a music fan. Not to mention one so fond of the violin!

Ducking his head, almost shyly, he nods, "Oui, je suis Francais. Je l'aime. Y'as-tu voyagé?"

It takes him a moment to realize he's actually spoken before he laughs a little, even blushing, "Sorry, sorry. Have you gone there before?"

[ooc: XD My French isn't too amazing, so if you're an avid writer/speaker I am sorry if I make a few mistakes here and there. Only in my second year.]

He's been running around for a while now, not really going anywhere but reveling in what it's like to move without a purpose or a plan. That's something Grover has missed desperately since coming to this strange new place, walking just to walk ( ... )

Ianto almost feels the other coming up to him, but he recognizes the boy immediately. He'd seen him about the hotel on many occasions.

"I have a lot of work to do, lots of papers. Paper isn't very fun, I'm afraid." He smiles down to the boy, always gentler with those whom appeared younger.

He stops and crouches down a little, looking to the boy, "Shouldn't you be there, too? Wandering about isn't very safe."

Grover shakes his head, the tags on his collar jingling just a little. "M'not wandering," he corrects. "Wandering's for people who don't have places to go back to. I gotta go back to the hotel, so m'just walking."

He kicks lightly against the pavement with bare feet, Grover never could get used to the concept of shoes nor did he ever want to. "You shouldn't go walking alone though, s'what eeryone's saying. You should go walking walking with other things. And I'm good at keeping people safe, I keep Toby safe and RObby and Tabby and Paul too."

It's the one thing he's still got in this strange new place, his ability to protect people, keep hem out of harms a and he has no intentions of giving that up now.

"Ah, I've been walking alone before, I'm used to it."

Ianto smiles a little before looking up at him again, "Oh, are you? Well, that's good. I bet they're happy you do."

He has a feeling the Toby and Paul mentioned might be the two he's seen stumbling about before, but he can't be quite sure.
