Paul is settled in the common room, finally. It's taken him a ridiculous amount of time to actually adventure out away from Toby's room, but here he is. He's sitting upon the couch in the common room, carefully tuning his violin ( Read more... )

He's been running around for a while now, not really going anywhere but reveling in what it's like to move without a purpose or a plan. That's something Grover has missed desperately since coming to this strange new place, walking just to walk.

But now something's caught his attention and he's on the trail of a rather interesting smell.

Or rather, a smell that he certainly doesn't smell when he's outside, the smell of the hotel, of people that shouldn't be outside.

He catches sight of the thing giving it off, a man he sometimes sees. Usually he looks bored, like he's got other places he wants to be besides where he was, Grover always found that strange but neer strange enough to investigate it further.

Until now anyway.

Trotting up to him, he'll fall easily in-step witht hte man, occasinally glancing up to him, head tilted just slightly. "You're in the hotel a lot," he remarks. "Behind desks and things. You don't look very happy when you're there." There's a slight bit of concern in his voice but mostly he's just being a nosy little pup.

Ianto almost feels the other coming up to him, but he recognizes the boy immediately. He'd seen him about the hotel on many occasions.

"I have a lot of work to do, lots of papers. Paper isn't very fun, I'm afraid." He smiles down to the boy, always gentler with those whom appeared younger.

He stops and crouches down a little, looking to the boy, "Shouldn't you be there, too? Wandering about isn't very safe."

Grover shakes his head, the tags on his collar jingling just a little. "M'not wandering," he corrects. "Wandering's for people who don't have places to go back to. I gotta go back to the hotel, so m'just walking."

He kicks lightly against the pavement with bare feet, Grover never could get used to the concept of shoes nor did he ever want to. "You shouldn't go walking alone though, s'what eeryone's saying. You should go walking walking with other things. And I'm good at keeping people safe, I keep Toby safe and RObby and Tabby and Paul too."

It's the one thing he's still got in this strange new place, his ability to protect people, keep hem out of harms a and he has no intentions of giving that up now.

"Ah, I've been walking alone before, I'm used to it."

Ianto smiles a little before looking up at him again, "Oh, are you? Well, that's good. I bet they're happy you do."

He has a feeling the Toby and Paul mentioned might be the two he's seen stumbling about before, but he can't be quite sure.

"You shouldn't though. People shouldn't have to walk alone, they should walk with other people. Or dogs. Walking with dogs is good."

A pause. "Unless you wanna walk alone. Some people like doing it, I hink but it seems awfully lonely."

When he speaks of Toby and the rest of the group, Grover nods, a proud smile upon his face. "Yeah, they like it a lot. I like doing it too, so it's okay. Everybody wins."

"I don't mind it either way. Company is always nice to have." Ianto smiles sweetly to the boy.

Really, he's made acquaintances with many of the people about the Hotel, but none to really go about and do things with.

"And here, now we don't have to walk alone at all. If you'd like to walk back to the Hotel with me, anyway. Maybe get some cocoa or tea?"

He's trying, Grover, he really is.

"I can't have chocolate," he informs. "Makes me all sick but I like tea. Tea is good." He hasn't really had tea since he's come to Chicago, so the prospect of having some now makes him moe than a little excited.

Also, it might be est to ignore the fact that he's started nuzzling Ianto's hand just a little. He likes him is all and he likes getting pets from the people he likes.

"You're good," he states matter-of-factly. "Tea is good and if you have tea it means you're good too."

Ianto is a little surprised by the nuzzling at his hand and almost thinks to move it. Instead, he dismisses it and perhaps moves to pat the boy's head softly.

Chuckling softly, he looks to the young boy again, "Then would you like to go back to the Hotel and get some? I can make all sorts for you."

He's never really had to be very good with children, but he's trying. At least give him that.

Grover is quite pleased with the petting and presses close to Ianto's side, occasionally nuzzling a little more but mostly being content to just walk.

"Mmhm, I'd like that lots." He's grinning a little and looks up at Ianto. "D'you you think it matters what I get now? Cause before Toby always said I couldn't drink some stuff cause it would make me sick but...But things are different now."

It's alright Ianto, Grover's just happy because you pet him and give him tea. He's a very easy individual to win over.

"Maybe, but it might be a good idea to keep away from those things that will make you sick anyway. Just in case."

Patting the boy's head again, he leads him back to the hotel, walking at the other's pace.

"What's your name?"
