Faith with a book in her hands is a rare sight, but today she's sitting, with a small pile of them, on a bench in Grant Park. She's sort of thinking about trying to get official paperwork and stuff, in this world, so that she can maybe make a little money doing what she's best at - beating on people. Or teaching other people to do so, failing ( Read more... )

Dean has the afternoon off, and since he's pretty much done every possible fix-up to the Impala already this summer, right now he's taking it easy. He's walking through the park when he sees a girl sitting on a bench, a pile of books around her. He does a sort of doubletake when he stops in front of her but, yeah, there's really no mistaking Faith.

"Never would've pegged you for a bookworm," he comments.

Faith glances up from the book she's reading and grins at him, showing him the cover.

It's a book about using pressure points in martial arts.

When Faith shows him the book, Dean chuckles.

"All right," Dean admits. "That sounds more like you. Although I can't imagine you'd have anything more to learn from it," he adds.

"Different universe, different techniques. You can never know too many ways to kill somebody with your pinky," Faith says cheerfully. "How's it hanging, Ponyboy?"

Don't ask her why that nickname, Dean. You don't want to know.

Harry has been scarce lately, still trying to find out why the hell every woman he meets seems to disappear without warning, so he's somewhat heartened to see that Lily, at least, is still around and kicking.

And attempting to fly, apparently.

He watches her in mild amusement, and a stray thought passes that he wishes he could help her out there. But no, his magic doesn't quite work like that, so she'll just have to try her own way.

Lily has just about given up when she sees Harry watching her. She quirks an eyebrow at him, her expression silently asking him if he's having fun staring.

"You know, they say if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem," she says, a little dryly.

(She uses that expression with Sirius a lot too.)
