For as much as Dean loves his car, and for as grateful as he is that she managed to make it through the Rift with him, she doesn't make for the best sleeping arrangements. The backseat is cozy enough for other things, sure, but Dean's not exactly ( Read more... )

JD wanders around the city a lot now that he's convinced himself that this city is perfectly safe. There is nothing like having a powerful imagination and all the illusions in the world to satisfy the need for safety.

He smiles brightly when he sees Dean, because Dean looks exactly like JD's crush friend! Good friend! Of a year now!

"Nate!" JD waves like the dork that he is. "Hey, man, what're you doing out of the tower?"

JD holds his hand up in the air for a high five. "What up! Course I do!" Yes, he is capable of ignoring the chuckle and pretending like Dean's totally serious about that.

"I don't know. Haven't thought that far ahead yet. Maybe I'll start naming them after candy. Mm." JD likes candy.

He looks over at Dean and offers him a sympathetic smile. JD hopes he's right, too.

"Oh! Well. I grew up in Ohio, but I moved to California to go to medical school. I was working at a hospital there when I got sucked through. How about you? Or were you always moving from city to city even as a kid? That kinda had to suck a little."

"Now, candy could get you going a while. I mean, candybars alone..." Deans stomach growls. Candy for him is one of the five major foodgroups. Or is it six?

"Medical school, huh? That's pretty awesome. I was born in Kansas," Dean says, his voice lowering on the word. "But we - I haven't been back since I was a little kid. Bad memories 'n all that." To say the absolute least.

Dean shrugs, like it's not a big deal, but it's pretty obvious it is. "Never had much of a place to call home. Unless you count the Impala," he jokes.
