A fighting man forgets each cut, each knock, each bruise, each fall...

Mar 11, 2008 20:17

It took the Doctor a while after waking up to figure out where he was, what had happened. He's not used to being drugged, and the combination of painkillers and sedative seems to have really muddled his thought processes ( Read more... )

[OOC: We're just going to pretend this is before Martha's return, because.... BOYS.]

Here Doctor, have that person you want to yell at.

Des is still in his little corner of the world when the Doctor enters, hopped up on adrenaline from his little monster run-in with Luke and more than a little antsy because Martha's still not back and she apparently went out looking for him.

So it's in a tone that's none too delicate that he calls out, "Aren't you supposed to be in a bed or something?"

Because yes, getting into a fight with the man after he's been injured is really going to make Martha a blissful ball of sunshine when she gets back... But if anyone asks, he's totally doing what Martha said to do.

Really.

[OOC: Works for me! Yes. BOYS. They make me happy.]

Something about that voice just makes the Doctor bristle. His gaze swings over to Descant, and he narrows his eyes at him, stalking over to sit... nearish Des. Because obviously, if someone annoys you, the best thing to do is sit near him so the two of you can snipe at each other.

The Doctor hisses a little as he sinks into the chair, as it requires him moving in ways that aren't exactly pleasant at the moment. He quickly tugs his coat around him in an attempt to cover up the massive bloodstains on his suit before Descant can see them. He hadn't really had the chance to change his suit - hadn't exactly thought about it until now.

"Aren't you supposed to be somewhere out there? Martha goes back out there, risks her life, again, to find you, and you're just sitting here like a useless lump? Fat lot of good you are."

Des crosses his arms over his chest in a 'see how haughty I look' pose, frowning. "You're talking like I purposefully engaged her in the world's most dangerous game of 'hide and seek.' She was out looking for you when I left, and I figured if she's gone off to look for me, given our current rate of missing each other, it'd be better if I stayed put."

For the moment anyway, but if he tells the Doctor that he fully intends to go after her if he thinks she's late, then he'll probably just want to come too and show him out... Or something like that, and if that were the case then... Yeah, that's not going to be good for anyone.

"Besides when I left before, it was for a good reason," he adds, because he feels it needs to be pointed out. "I didn't just run off for the hell of it."

"Are you implying I didn't leave for a good reason?" the Doctor snaps, sounding more petulant than... well, any other way he'd like to sound. He's still very groggy, though, so he thinks he can be excused for that. "I needed room to think, unless you'd rather I give up on this 'sending everyone home' thing."

He glowers at Des over his tea, playing out fantasy scenarios in his head of "accidentally" sending him not home, but to some distant and mostly uninhabited planet, where he could be conveniently eaten by something large and with far too many teeth.

"If anything happens to her out there, I'm holding you personally responsible."

Zelgadis wanders into the common room shortly after the Doctor does. Lina's not there, for which he is somewhat grateful. Their last conversation was so fraught with emotion he thinks it best to avoid her.

Then he spots the Doctor sitting by himself with a worried expression on his face and... blood on his suit. Concerned, Zel approaches him and asks, "Are you okay?"

The Doctor's worried expression immediately shifts to a reassuring smile upon being addressed.

"Why do people keep asking that?" he asks, mostly to himself. "It's not like I'm sitting here dying, just ran into a bit of trouble earlier... Nothing to worry about at all, honestly. I'm already back on my feet and everything."

Zel arches a brow at him and sits down on the couch next to him. "But there's blood on your suit. What happened?"

The Doctor looks down at his suit, raising an eyebrow at the blood. He liked this suit, too.

"Oh, that. I got stabbed. Minor thing, really, wouldn't worry about it."
