Don't turn away (Don't give into the pain); Don't try to hide (Though they're screaming your name)

This whole CLF thing has Revan more than a little twitchy, and staying inside the Conrad in the hopes of avoiding the whole thing hasn't helped. In fact, in many ways it seems to have made things a bit worse, for she now has a rather bad case of Cabin Fever ( Read more... )

Bean has discovered Grant Park. She loves parks, these big city parks in particular--little pockets of partially-tamed Nature in the middle of all the concrete and glass. She likes the contrast.

She takes a seat on the edge of the fountain several feet down from Revan, completely oblivious to the strange water. She crosses her legs and pulls a sketchbook out of a messenger bag that has an overly-cheerful bumblebee painted on it. Potato the German Shepherd lies down on the ground at her feet, keeping a watchful eye on the park.

Bean has already started sketching the fountain when she finally notices the odd splashing. She stares at the water for a long minute, then looks over at Revan and puts two and two together.

She smiles a little, not looking confused in the least. Then she flips a page in her notebook and starts sketching Revan instead.

"This is so strange. It's like straight out of a movie."

She looks back at Revan with a curious look and walks Potato back to the fountain. "So there was no Earth where you're from? Where are you from, then?"

She takes a seat on the edge of the fountain again and looks off toward the grass and trees, her gaze blank. "Oh, well. People who don't like someone cause of hate or fear, they're not really reasonable. And, I mean, it justifies it, doesn't it? Then again, people hate people all the time for stuff they can't control."

Straight out of a movie is about right, considering Revan's a Jedi. Not that Bean knows that. But still. Revan frowns at this. "Well, there might've been, but it wasn't in my home galaxy, so I never had any contact with it. As for me, I'm from a remote world called Deralia. I don't remember it very well, though. I was taken at a very young age from my family. The Order I belong to prefer to train children."

Revan's eyes grow distant when Bean mentions people hating other people for something they can't control. It reminds her of Taris, where the humans repeatedly oppressed non-humans living there. That, too, pissed her off.

"There was a planet I visited where that sort of thing was accepted and even expected of humans. Aliens were always third class citizens. Not even second class, that was for the poor humans..." She shakes her head, clearing the memory from her thoughts. If she thinks about it any more she's going to start getting angry again.

((OOC: You're okay to have Bean canon-puncture Revan if you want. She'll probably take ( ... )

"Your home galaxy? Planets? Oh gosh, you're from a whole other planet? That's amazing! I always knew there were aliens on Earth! I mean, no one ever believes that, but I always sort of suspected, you know? What's the Order you're from?"

Revan has essentially made Bean's month. Magical humans, angels, demons, portals to other dimensions, and now aliens--real aliens! It's all the sorts of things that Bean has read about and always hoped existed, but never thought to ever encounter in her life.

"Oh...really? Whole planets like that, huh? I didn't even know there were other humans out there...gosh, it's like Star Trek."
