Lincoln Park is over 1200 acres, so it's no surprise, really, that two people can both be in it and have no idea the other is there.

Lily Evans, for example, is currently all bundled up and making snow-animals - so far she's done Gryffindor's lion and a larger-than-life Ravenclaw's eagle finished, and is currently working on a Hufflepuff Badger ( Read more... )

Roland recognizes Lily from the Gauche, though he doesn't know her name. He happens to spend a lot of time in a tree like tay, keeping an eye on things. It gives him something to do and makes him feel like he has a purpose here. He doesn't usually go out of his way to talk to someone, but might as well say something.

"Nice badger."

"Thank you."

Lily glances at the young man, then back at what she's doing.

"I went to a boarding school in another country, the animals were symbols of the school. Lion, Eagle, Badger, and when this is done I'll start on the snake."

Not all Slytherins are evil, after all.

Roland smiles just barely. It's really very hard for him to smile. He walks toward her lion.

"Good animal choices for symbols. Each has its own strengths," he says. "The snake will be easy to make."

"Yes. The school is divided into four sub-Houses of students and each animal is a symbol of one house." Lily points at the lion. "That one was my house."

Aiden is wandering the city. He... hasn't really done that before, but hey, there's a first time for everything, isn't there?

At any rate, he arrives at Lincoln Park and spots Lily sitting there making snow animals. He grins broadly and approaches, flopping down in the snow across from her.

"Mind if I join you?"

"Not a bit!" Lily smiles over at him, bright and friendly, secure in the knowledge that her wand is in a holster under the sleeve of her robes, just in case. "Hi, I'm Lily."

Aiden grins back at her. "Aiden. Nice to meet you, Lily." He glances around at the various snow animals, and says, slowly, pointing to each one, "Lion, badger, and... some sort of bird of prey. Am I right?"

Instead of making snow sculptures, Aiden flexes his hands and then starts drawing something in the snow with an extended index finger. He can't sculpt, really, and no longer has access to magic to help him do so. But drawing? Drawing he can do, even without a pencil and paper.

"Eagle," Lily says. "They're all on my school's crest."

Harry's out and about, collecting potion ingredients to stockpile in preparation of reopening his investigator business. Unused bus tickets, scraps of newspaper comics, the giggling of ice skaters carefully caught in a glass phial. As he stoppers it up, he spots Sirius staring at the rink in what looks like something approaching awe. Well, it's a familiar enough expression, anyway, so he pockets the phial and wanders over that way. "Hey, out-of-town guy. Not a lotta skating where you're from?" he asks with a grin.

"No, there is," Sirius says absently, "but I don't get how they do it without magic."

There's a pause, as he mentally reviews what he just said, and his expression takes on a wary edge.

"....I mean, it looks hard," he says, backpedaling and contemplating a Memory Charm.

Oh, Sirius. So close and yet, not a chance. "Kid, if that's how you try to get past curious muggles, your deflections need a bit of work," Harry says with a bit of a laugh. Although he really hadn't thought he would ever meet one of those wizards, as he likes to call them, since... you know, fictional. In his world anyway. Where the wizards sort of hide in plain sight without really hiding, like, at all. Advertising wizarding services in the phone book isn't really subtle.

"How....I didn't know there was anyone else from my world here!"

Sirius beams, holding out his hand.

"Hullo! Sirius Black, Hogwarts, class of '78."

New park to explore! Well, not new so much as not in the area of the city she usually frequents, but that's okay. Huck's prowling through the park, not really looking for anything in particular, though she did enjoy a sweep through the zoo, when she spots Sirius.

So she sidles up and punches him in the arm. Lightly. It's like hello. "Hey," she says.

"Hi." Sirius grins at her, then gestures at the skaters. "How do they do that without magic?"

For a moment Huck just kind of stares at him, trying to decipher whether or not he's being serious. After a moment, she decides that he is (or he's putting on a really good show for a kinda lame joke, so he better not be joking).

"Uh, they got balance?" she says. Hell if she knows how you do it. You just put skates on and...go. And try no to fall over. Or you don't put skates on and go, which is what she usually does, skidding around in her trainers.

"I guess so. Skaters back home used magic to, y'know, not fall over....Muggles are pretty impressive really."

Cy is enjoying being fluffy and unobtrusive again, inasmuch as a talking psychic nutball is ever unobtrusive. She's currently floundering her way through a snowbank somewhere in the relative proximity of Sirius's foot, yammering away. No, the idea of people hearing her and it being a bad thing hasn't even crossed her mind. "Hiho, silver, which way to the merry-go-roundabout? Watch that last left, it's a snake's tail tangle."

There is a foot blocking her path. She contemplates said foot, rears back, and attacks it. "Boshanonce!"

Sirius...doesn't care for cats, so much. Usually he turns into Padfoot and barks at them.

Talking ones, on the other hand...

".....oi, that's my foot, lay off, alright?"

She looks up at him with a mixture of insult and kitten tragedy. "I conquered this land in the name of me. It's my foot now."

To illustrate her point, she rubs her face all over his shoe. And then attempts to climb his leg.

"....that is so like a cat. Do you...need someplace to live?"

Notice how Sirius isn't put off by the talking cat thing. Be impressed.
