Lily Evans is sitting on a bench, on a street near the Gauche. She's managed to use a combination of warm winter clothes her ability at Charms to hide her wings, and is currently bundled up from head to toe so only her face is visible

Aubrey's wandering back from the nearest grocery store, hands shoved in sweatshirt pockets and a plastic bag looped over xes arm. Xe'd been aiming to finally go see the Skid, actually spend some time out in the thing, but here's someone sitting on a bench.

And, while normally xe might just walk on by, given that she's obviously upset and xe doesn't deal well with upset, she looks startlingly familiar. And while xe know there's no real reason for Fricka to even be here, or why she'd want to talk to xem if she was, xe can't help but stop.

So xe walks up, nudges her foot with xes own, and says, "Um. Hey." Because Aubrey knows how to use words to talk to people.

Lily recoils in surprise at the unfamiliar touch, reaching instinctively for her wand.

The Stinging Hex passes her lips before she can restrain herself; she's been fighting in a war, of late, and also she's a little emotional right now.

"Jesusfuckdammit!" Aubrey jumps backwards a few feet, doing a little dance of God What the Hell That Hurt! "What was that for? I wasn't doing anything!"

Xe gives her a rather reproachful look. "Just wanted to see if you were okay," xe mutters. "So much for that."

"....I'm sorry. You nudged my foot. And I don't know you," Lily says, feeling a little stupid. "And I've been kind of in a war and it's got me high-strung."

Samus is walking back to the Gauche from work, carrying a plastic bag of assorted essentials, when she sees the redheaded girl sitting on the bench. She almost passes by, oblivious, when she realizes the young woman is crying. Well, one can't fault Samus for retaining her good samaritan instincts, even in this strange new world, she supposes.

Pausing in front of the bench, she looks down at the young woman. "Are you all right?" she asks gently.

Lily looks up, sniffling. "Hullo. I'm...well, no, not really."

There's a pause, where Lily tries to find a way of asking the other woman if she's a Wanderer, without having to resort to a Memory Charm afterward.

"Homesick," she says eventually. "I'm not from around here."

"Ah, I see," Samus says, nodding her head knowingly. She's pretty sure this girl is a Wanderer, herself, but she isn't going to flat-out ask, either. "I'm not from around here, either," she says, trying to sound understanding, hopefully dropping the hint that she's a Wanderer herself.

"I think I can understand the homesick feeling, to a certain extent," Samus adds. "There are things back in my...home that I wish I could have access to here, even if I can't return there."

Lily perks up a little, eying Samus a little more carefully.

"I was supposed to get married. Before I came here," she says, and hopes Samus will read between the lines and figure out that she can't still get married because her fiance is, you know, in another universe.
