Lily Evans is sitting on a bench, on a street near the Gauche. She's managed to use a combination of warm winter clothes her ability at Charms to hide her wings, and is currently bundled up from head to toe so only her face is visible

Aubrey's wandering back from the nearest grocery store, hands shoved in sweatshirt pockets and a plastic bag looped over xes arm. Xe'd been aiming to finally go see the Skid, actually spend some time out in the thing, but here's someone sitting on a bench.

And, while normally xe might just walk on by, given that she's obviously upset and xe doesn't deal well with upset, she looks startlingly familiar. And while xe know there's no real reason for Fricka to even be here, or why she'd want to talk to xem if she was, xe can't help but stop.

So xe walks up, nudges her foot with xes own, and says, "Um. Hey." Because Aubrey knows how to use words to talk to people.

Lily recoils in surprise at the unfamiliar touch, reaching instinctively for her wand.

The Stinging Hex passes her lips before she can restrain herself; she's been fighting in a war, of late, and also she's a little emotional right now.

"Jesusfuckdammit!" Aubrey jumps backwards a few feet, doing a little dance of God What the Hell That Hurt! "What was that for? I wasn't doing anything!"

Xe gives her a rather reproachful look. "Just wanted to see if you were okay," xe mutters. "So much for that."

"....I'm sorry. You nudged my foot. And I don't know you," Lily says, feeling a little stupid. "And I've been kind of in a war and it's got me high-strung."

Aubrey was about to start walking away again, but stops xemself, turning around with a smaller version of xes trademarked Awkward Face-Eating Grin. "You don't--of course you don't, right. Uh, it's okay. I would've left you alone but you looked kind of unhappy and I thought..." Xe kind of waves one hand, slightly painfully, in dismissal. "Never mind."

"I am sorry," Lily says, sincerely. "Let me make it up to you?"

"Um," Aubrey says, and stares for a moment. Normally, this would be when it'd be polite to defer and get the hell out of there, but she looks so much like Fricka -- not exactly, but enough that maybe they could've been sisters -- that xe hesitates. "I--I guess?"

"Great! I'm Lily Evans."

She holds out one gloved hand with a very apologetic smile still on her face.

"And I'm sorry I hexed you."

"Uh, Aubrey. Ringland," Aubs replies, taking her hand, xes grin widening a bit out of habit. "It's okay, I guess, probably good to be jumpy around here anyway, though -- what's a hex, anyway?" The question's there more to cut off a ramble than actual curiosity, but that's Aubs for you. Xe's figuring on more magic, because that's seems to be par for the norm for people who have the faces of xes friends back home. All the one other time that's actually happened.

"Uhm." Lily pulls a face. "Strictly speaking I'm not supposed to tell people about it if they don't already know - but then, if violating the rules means the Ministry has to come and get me, well, onward and upward, then. A hex is a mildly violent magic spell."

Aubrey makes a face right back; it's kind of a reflex, and xe likes Lily (apart from the 'looking like Fricka' thing, that is) well enough. "Eh, well, it's not as if they could come take you away here, right?" Yeah, xe's been working under the assumption that she's a Wanderer, as if there couldn't be people here that worked magic. To be fair, xe's never met one yet.
