Let's Go Out To The Lobby, Let's Go Out To The Lobby

Doc Brown is standing outside the AMC River East 21 Cinema, looking full of anticipation and slightly stunned. The anticipation part is from having a day out with his friends (and a couple of new people, but they're with Aubrey, so no worries) watching what he hopes will prove to be a good movie. The slightly stunned part is from having actually ( Read more... )

Glayds is happy. Things are going fairly well (as far as she knows,) and she's out with her dear friend Doc to see a film. She's brought some cookies, stuffed in a box under her sweater (thank god it's not blazing hot today,) even though she knows that cookies aren't exactly movie food.

She's not really good with popcorn. It's not her fault.

Doc grins at Gladys as she arrives. It's good to see her in a good mood. Especially after her breakdown in the kitchen. "Hi!" He looks at her oddly bulging sweater. "Sneaking in some snacks?" He figured she was going to make something. Probably a good thing too, given the prices at the concession stand. Doc is very glad Aubrey offered to help pay xes friends' way.

"Hello dearie!" Gladys says, grinning broadly. She looks down at the box. "Oh, just a few," she whispers to him confidentially. "You know, I'm sure they'd understand. I'll leave them a few on the counter when we leave."

Oh, Gladys. You're so very odd, in a bizarrely loveable way.

Doc chuckles. Typical Gladys. And he has no doubt "just a few" means at least two for everyone. "I'm glad you did. Some of the prices in there. . . ." He shakes his head. "I'm sure the employees will appreciate your cooking, though." He can't think of anyone who wouldn't.

Farley had made it a point of heading out a little early, just in case. This time, he's dressed quite a bit more plainly (at least in comparison to when he came back from L.A.) in a white shirt, jeans, okay, and the green sunglasses. He's actually being pretty cool about all this, save for one of the devices he brought back, which he'd quadruple-checked to make sure it worked. A little paranoid, yeah, but this is Chicago. Can you blame him?

He arrives about a few minutes after Doc, and stands next to him, looking up at the building.

"Nice..."

Doc grins at him as he arrives. "Hi. Glad you could make it." Not that he thinks Farley had anything else going on, but it's the polite thing to say.

Doc nods. "And big," he says, glancing inside. "21 theaters. And you should see the concession stand!" He pauses briefly, thinking about the utterly insane amount of options. "They serve a lot more than just popcorn these days."

21?! Farley whistles, slightly impressed. Explains a lot, really. For the second time, he's glad that he has some money on him...

Doc nods knowingly. "Amazing, isn't it? I'm interested to see what it'll be like actually inside the theater. I'm sure it'll be a huge change from our time periods."

The Narration can tell you that you're in for a treat, as apparently the seats are really comfy.

Revan's never been to a movie. Seriously. She never really had the time to see the equivalent back home, nor the Credits to do so.

So she's very much looking forward to this outing. She's a bit tardy, but that's not terribly important, hopefully. She shows up at the theatre in a lacy black dress she's taken to wearing outside of the tower, as well as a pair of only slightly high-heeled boots; that is, the heels are an inch high at the most. She beams at Doc as she spots him leaning against the wall and hugs him.

"Good to finally see you again," she says, grinning.

Not terribly, no -- the movie doesn't start until 5:15 (or, well, the previews don't, but Doc doesn't know how many there will be). Doc just wanted a fairly wide window for getting everyone here and getting whatever snacks are wanted. Though Gladys's cookies should help with that.

Doc happily returns the hug, grinning widely. "Good to see you too! It's been a while." He takes in her outfit with an approving nod. "You look nice."

Revan grins as well. "Thanks! Aiden made a point of informing me that the robes and armour might freak people out a while ago. Hence, civvies." She glances up at the theatre and whistles. "You know, I've never been to see anything like a movie, not even back home." With a grin, she adds, "This should be interesting. And fun."

Doc chuckles. "Good idea." Yeah, robes and armor probably wouldn't be the best choice for going to the movies. (That infamous coffee shop, on the other hand. . . .)

He looks at her in surprise. "What, really? Great Scott, you've been missing out. It's really fun!" Doc smiles fondly off into the distance, remembering boyhood trips to the theater to watch westerns. "I just hope this one's good. I've never been steered wrong by Jules Verne before, but. . . ." He shrugs, steam puffing from his elbows. "But yes, it should be interesting. And fun."

A taxi pulls up at the theater, and out spills three ...well, two of them aren't technically kids, but it's the best descriptor for them all anyway. Aubrey walks immediately toward the theater, having given Piper xes share of the taxi fare already, and is still on the 'mostly ignoring Andrew's existence' thing. Xe's wearing a black sweatshirt which, though baggy, disguises no food -- there wasn't much at the Gauche that xe cared to swipe and has just enough that xe can probably get popcorn or something.

Xe grins at Doc, waving (even though they're only ten feet away or so). "Hey!" xe calls. Xe's slowed down a bit, to let Piper and Andrew catch up, but not a lot. Also, there's quite a few people by Doc that xe doesn't recognize -- which was expected, but...New People. Waugh.

[OOC: Yeah, xe's...kinda around? Might still be slow, but hey, at least something is happening!]

Doc grins and waves back as Aubrey and xes friends pile out of the cab. It's good to see xem looking happy. Especially after their last face-to-face meeting. . . Doc shoves that to the back of his head. No thinking about that today. Today is about fun stuff.

"Hi!" Doc says, walking up to them. "Glad you could make it." He gives the two people behind Aubrey an encouraging smile as a bit of steam hisses out of his back. "I take it these are your friends?" Doc'll do his own introductions in a moment.

(OOC: Kinda around works! And hell, this was gonna be slow anyway. God knows when J.D. will show up, given that his mun is currently without power. I hate you, Hurricane Ike. >.<)

Piper did manage to make Andrew leave his camera alone, which actually didn't take much convincing given theater policy, but she did wind up using her powers just a little bit, although she wouldn't admit to it ( ... )

Yes, Piper, that was steam. Doc's unique. He smiles at Piper and Andrew and holds out a hand. "I'm Dr. Emmett Brown," he introduces himself. "You can call me Doc if you like." Motioning to the others one by one, he continues, "And these are Revan, Gladys, and Farley. We've got one more coming, kid named J.D." Doc checks his watch -- only about 4:45, so they're still doing pretty well.

"Anyway, it's good to meet you, Piper and -- Andrew." Doc winces slightly, looking embarrassed. He just -- "Is it all right if I call you Andy?" he asks Andrew suddenly. "I've -- had a bad experience with an Andrew in the past, and I'd prefer you not have to see me flinch a little every time I say your name."

He can forgive the fail easily, Andrew. He just has a little trouble with your first name being the same as his loathed Keeper. Try not to hold it against him.
