Let's Go Out To The Lobby, Let's Go Out To The Lobby

Doc Brown is standing outside the AMC River East 21 Cinema, looking full of anticipation and slightly stunned. The anticipation part is from having a day out with his friends (and a couple of new people, but they're with Aubrey, so no worries) watching what he hopes will prove to be a good movie. The slightly stunned part is from having actually ( Read more... )

A taxi pulls up at the theater, and out spills three ...well, two of them aren't technically kids, but it's the best descriptor for them all anyway. Aubrey walks immediately toward the theater, having given Piper xes share of the taxi fare already, and is still on the 'mostly ignoring Andrew's existence' thing. Xe's wearing a black sweatshirt which, though baggy, disguises no food -- there wasn't much at the Gauche that xe cared to swipe and has just enough that xe can probably get popcorn or something.

Xe grins at Doc, waving (even though they're only ten feet away or so). "Hey!" xe calls. Xe's slowed down a bit, to let Piper and Andrew catch up, but not a lot. Also, there's quite a few people by Doc that xe doesn't recognize -- which was expected, but...New People. Waugh.

[OOC: Yeah, xe's...kinda around? Might still be slow, but hey, at least something is happening!]

Doc grins and waves back as Aubrey and xes friends pile out of the cab. It's good to see xem looking happy. Especially after their last face-to-face meeting. . . Doc shoves that to the back of his head. No thinking about that today. Today is about fun stuff.

"Hi!" Doc says, walking up to them. "Glad you could make it." He gives the two people behind Aubrey an encouraging smile as a bit of steam hisses out of his back. "I take it these are your friends?" Doc'll do his own introductions in a moment.

(OOC: Kinda around works! And hell, this was gonna be slow anyway. God knows when J.D. will show up, given that his mun is currently without power. I hate you, Hurricane Ike. >.<)

Piper did manage to make Andrew leave his camera alone, which actually didn't take much convincing given theater policy, but she did wind up using her powers just a little bit, although she wouldn't admit to it ( ... )

Yes, Piper, that was steam. Doc's unique. He smiles at Piper and Andrew and holds out a hand. "I'm Dr. Emmett Brown," he introduces himself. "You can call me Doc if you like." Motioning to the others one by one, he continues, "And these are Revan, Gladys, and Farley. We've got one more coming, kid named J.D." Doc checks his watch -- only about 4:45, so they're still doing pretty well.

"Anyway, it's good to meet you, Piper and -- Andrew." Doc winces slightly, looking embarrassed. He just -- "Is it all right if I call you Andy?" he asks Andrew suddenly. "I've -- had a bad experience with an Andrew in the past, and I'd prefer you not have to see me flinch a little every time I say your name."

He can forgive the fail easily, Andrew. He just has a little trouble with your first name being the same as his loathed Keeper. Try not to hold it against him.

"Yeah--" Aubrey starts but Piper's already introduced them, which is good because talking will probably just result in nervous rambling at this point. "Guys, this is Doctor Emmett Brown. Met him at the Conrad awhile back," xe says, eyeing the people gathered behind Doc. "Er, I usually just call him Doc." Xe's saying all this to Piper, because of the 'ignoring Andrew's existence' thing as well as the fact that Andrew is being Awkwardly Aloof. Though xe does spare a bit of a smirk at the expression on the other kid's face.

"Right! So!" Xe turns back to Doc. "Who are all these lovely people that will be sharing in our Glorious Movie-going Adventures?"

Doc grins and points them out one by one. "Everyone, meet Revan Onasi, Farley Claymore, and Gladys--"

There's a pause. "Gladys," Doc finishes lamely. He looks at her with a raised eyebrow. "I just realized I don't know your last name."

He shakes it off and goes into a bit more detail. "Revan found me when I first fell through the Rift, and I met Gladys shortly afterwards. Farley I found when he fell through the Rift." Doc glances up the street. "Like I said, there's one more coming -- John Dorian, J.D."

Revan beams at everyone and reaches out to shake their hands. "Pleasure to meet you guys," she says. "Farley and I have already met," she adds, but shakes his hand anyway with a grin.

Don't mind Revan. She's in a very good mood today.

Farley offers a congenial smile as he greets Andrew and Piper - the young woman seems a bit intimidated, and Andrew, well, makes the old him seem like the epitome of cool in comparison. His name, though... Huh boy. Doc's flinches aren't a surprise to Farley. In fact, he'd be more surprised if he wasn't flinching.

He keeps a calm expression when it comes to Aubrey - like he promised, he'll wait. Besides, xe seems happy enough...

His smile switches to a more sincere one when Revan shakes his hand. Good to see you again, he adds telepathically. God, it's been - what - three months?

Aubrey shakes everyone's hand, falling into Businessman Mode as xe called it back home. Grin, look alert and like you care about meeting them (okay, xe actually does this time, but xe's nervous, dammit), firm handshakes. It occurs to xem that they can probably tell at least 50% of this is faked, but it's just what xe does. Better than flailing awkwardly and stumbling over xes sentences, anyway.

After all the "nice to meet you"s are over, xe positions xemself somewhere between Doc and Piper -- hey, they're the two xe knows and likes! -- and shoves xes hands in xes pockets again, looking around. It's not so much that xe doesn't want to talk to anyone more than xe has no idea what to say, so xe'll just stand over here and hope xe doesn't look as ridiculously awkward as xe feels.

Well, there's always Andrew to compare xemself to. That makes xem feel a little better.

Doc watches the introductions. It occurs to him that he might have wanted to introduce Aubrey and xes friends to the others, but they handle it pretty well on their own, so he figures no harm done. Everyone seems to be getting along fine so far. Step one of the outing is a success, then.

He gives Aubrey's shoulder a quick pat as xem puts himself between Doc and Piper. He can see that Aubrey's feeling a little awkward -- new people and all that. But xe's making an effort, and Doc appreciates that. Hopefully it'll be better once they're in the actual theater. Doc makes a mental note to figure out a seating order once J.D. arrives.

He checks his watch again, then shrugs and looks around. "Well, we still have time, so why don't we decide on what snacks we want? They sell plenty of them inside." He pauses briefly. "They even sell nachos," he adds, looking slightly dumbfounded. Back when he was a moviegoer, you got popcorn or a candy bar. "Gladys also has cookies on her, so there's that too."
