They say it's just a matter of time and place...

Jeremy Taylor has made his way to Chicago proper. He's walking through the streets in a nice suit, wings hidden beneath his jacket. He's painfully ordinary, blending into the crowds, and if he sees an angel, he won't engage them in any way. Just... Make notes. Prepare to hunt. You know, the usual ( Read more... )

There's another gender-ambiguous person out today, and se's feeling pretty frilly hirself. This is actually pretty rare, as Jacks tends towards the more masculine end of the spectrum most of the time. But... as it is, she spots Schro and almost squees.

"Hey! I know you, right?"

Schro turns, smiling a little when he sees who it is. "You do. I'm the wave function, and you're either/nor. Jacks, right?"

He looks Jacks over and smirks. "I was just going to try and find someone to buy me drinks. Many drinks. Want to join me in that noble pursuit?"

Meanwhile, a certain Rakshasa has noticed an angel nearby. Don't mind the guy in the suit that just happens to pass by. There's nothing special about him at all, and he'll just be fading back into the crowd now. He caught a name, and that's enough for the moment.

"Right! Schro, yeah? Man, fancy seeing you out!" Se gives him an approving once over, then leans in to kiss his cheek. "I don't think you'll have any problem with that, chickie, and I will absolutely join you! All girls together!"

For a certain value of "girls", obviously.

"Yeah." Schro gives Jacks a delighted smile at that, and returns the smooch. He shoplifts the good lipstick, after all. Absolutely kiss-proof, and he's tested it extensively.

Girls' Night Out it is, then. It's so nice to have someone who doesn't bat an eye at his rather mutable gender status. Maybe Chicago's not so bad, after all.

"So, first target." He scans the signs nearby, and points to a bar at random: one that looks fairly busy, in fact. "Promising enough, no?"

Ivan often wanders the streets in search for his prey. However, he does not take notes or just watch. He engages, lures then kills. Which is his intention today, because he has the need. His fingers are itching for it, if anything.

He's a little surprised, though, when he nearly feels the presence of another one just like him.

That could be interesting, and it could mean competition. He searches the many faces on the street for the one fellow he's getting that feeling from. To anyone else, he might look cute and adorable and so lost. But to a trained eye, he's scouting.

Well, that's interesting. One angel found so far, and here's another demon. He starts watching the crowds more intently, moving along... There.

He meets Ivan's eyes for just an instant, then turns towards the nearest Starbucks (one on just about every corner, and he's grateful for the caffeine) and orders a double-espresso, watching out of the corner of his eye. It's almost like courting, in a strange sense. Almost like hunting a different kind of prey.

Jer does not play well with other demons. But he won't start this unless the deceptively cute demon boy gives him a reason to.

All it takes is the brief contact between eyes for Ivan to play up the deceptive innocence even more. He notices the way Jeremy slips right into the Starbucks. But he does not pursue. Not quite, anyway.

Instead, he settles to take up a bit of space just near the place, occasionally earning a concerned look by random passerbys. But his eyes are not focused on the humans or the angels... oh no. He's keeping a close watch on that demon.

It doesn't help that his curiosity and need for a thrill is far too strong. So he decides to slip into the Starbucks and just happens (though they both know it's not chance) to brush past the other to place an order for chai tea.

"Oh, I'm sorry..." It would be sincere if there wasn't mischievousness alight in his eyes.

Of course you are. Jeremy glances out of the corner of his eye at the kid -- most demons are 'kids' to him (his kind does excel at dying young), but this one might just be dangerous. Possibly a Behemoth, but more likely another Rakshasa. The way he's acting, it's definitely one of the hunter-types, for all that he's so cute Jer could just pinch his little cheeks.

There's a faint rustle under Jeremy's jacket, the softest brush of insect wings, but Jer himself is just smiling. "Hey, don't worry about it." He shifts away from the contact, but doesn't actually move. Backing away would be a submissive gesture, and he doesn't submit to anyone.

He's got a gun in a shoulder-holster, and a couple of small knives in arm-sheaths under the coat. With his wings out... He could go for either pretty quickly. Wondering if he'll have to.

"Crowded in here." Less than optimal fighting conditions. You here to talk, or you here to start something?

Tay's still not able to really calm down and take things as they come at the moment. She's all... wrapped up in her own mind, trying to think like a hunter in order to avoid everything else.

So, of course, she passes through the sunroom that Suzie's in.

There are two shapes following her. The first is a little fuzzier around the edges than the second, and looks like an evil version of the angelet. It's murmuring quietly in Tay's ear, not really paying Suzie any attention. The second is sharp and clear, almost like it's... always around. It's Tay, but blonde, and feminine, her face much softer and more open. It looks at Suzie as they pass, and smiles sadly at her.

She really does care about them, it says softly.

This is... probably one of the nicer and least scary shadows Suzie's gotten to see.

About who? Suzie wonders. Hello, by the way. Aloud, she just looks up at the girl passing through. "Something wrong?"

She sounds concerned. She vaguely remembers Tay from the incident with the Doctor, but never did get a proper introduction.

Elashte. Malek. Buffy and Roland and Andrew. All of them. SheweI can't say anything, it's too hard. Not taught to care, especially when I should kill. There's a brief pause. Hello.

At the same time, Tay blinks, then shifts awkwardly. "Oh, um... no. I'm fine."

I killed her slowly, the fainter figure hisses, grinning. I enjoyed every minute of it.

Now, at some point, either before or after running into Suzie (it doesn't really matter which), Tay is making the rounds outside. She's letting off guilt and confusion and just a hint of resignation.

Also annoyance, because Eric is sitting at the base of her tree. Which she sort of wants to be up.

Instead, she's pacing the perimeter of the garden and glowering slightly at anyone who comes within ten feet of her.

Eric looks up when Tay comes close. The emotions coming off her are significantly more intoxicating than the wine is, but he'll be keeping that to himself.

"Ah, Tay. I had something to ask you, if it's not too much trouble." He smiles, appearing friendly and harmless and not projecting.

She sighs, a bit, and scowls half-heartedly before planting herself a couple of feet in front of him. She really just wants to be left alone, but whatever.

"Yeah, sure."

"Do you have any particular type of music you like? Or... Well, anything you enjoy doing that doesn't involve hunting demons." He smiles, slightly apologetic, though whether it's for interrupting her Time Alone, or for being a demon, who can say?

"I'm trying to arrange for a night out for Elashte." He frowns a little, obviously concerned for his friend. "He could use one. But I'd rather you enjoyed yourself as well -- it's frustrating enough being the guardian angel to a demon without having to be dragged along someplace to just be bored, I'd imagine."

He looks her over quickly, and appears mildly concerned for her as well. "Though I get the feeling my timing's... not the best. I'm sorry."

There's a Jezebel prowling the park, camera in hand as she creeps about. It's been a while since she's wandered the area but the Conrad makes he slightly uneasy and she's missed taking pictures outside, so here she is.

She spots him from a distance, someone from the hotel but no one she's ever talked to. Well, it was time to chance that.

Moving around so that she might try and come up behind him, she wears a broad smile.

"'Scuse me," she says cheerily, and, if he turns around, he'll be greeted with the sigh a camera lens and the sounds of a picture being taken.

Book hears someone approaching, so he's not entirely surprised by the voice. The camera, however, was not something he expected. He blinks for a moment, after the noise, until he remembers that yes, they were still using photographs back then-now.

"Hello," he says, with a slightly bemused smile.
