In the lobby, there is an Angel of Healing who is standing with a plate of cookies and brownies and other sweet treats on a tray. It's been a particularly tough week, and she's honestly sick and tired of everything that has gone on. She's fighting back.
She spent several hours in the basement, and the plate she's currently holding is by no means the

"Hi," she says, smiling a little. Her Mexican accent's gone like it was never there -- Romana taught her right, and you show respect to little old ladies. Especially when they're angels. So she's talking like the educated and well-mannered young lady Romana tries to make her into. "Are you holding up okay?"

"Hello there, dearie," she says. "That is a glorious looking eyepatch. It makes you look... what's the word the kids would use nowadays? Oh, yes." The smile gets slightly devilish. "Badass." She giggles like a schoolgirl, because 'badass' is not a word you'd expect out of a woman like Gladys. She enjoys doing things like that.
"I'm perfectly fine, considering I'm in this mad, mad city. Here. Have a brownie." She sticks out the tray to give Elena a better look. "You look like you need it."

She decides it might be okay to slip outside for once, because she misses the sunlight. But she knows if she does, she'll be reminded of Natasha and her brother's anger and...
Well, Rain was taking chances today. So when she sees Gladys with the sweets? She tries a smile. It's working, but it's tired.
"It smells wonderful."

"Take one, my dear," she says. "No, take two. Take as many as you want. I've got more than enough, and you need it."
She's not going to get into how she knows that. It doesn't matter. What matters is that Rain get something tasty and warm-feeling in her, to combat the dark. It's what Gladys does, and she does it well.

She doesn't meet Gladys' eyes, "Really? You're sure you don't mind?"
But at her enthusiasm, she decides on a cookie or two, her smile brightening a little. Not a significant amount, but more.

Her heart flies to her throat as Rain takes some. It feels so good to see people take them. Even better than the physical act of healing. It makes her feel like she's truly fixing people, and that's what she loves to do.
Cookies heal the things Band-Aids can't.

What the hell. He puts on a half-hearted smile and approaches. "Got any chocolate chip?"

"Some days it just feels good to bake, and other days it feels good to watch people enjoy what I've made," she says. "Makes me feel better, anyway." Yes, she realizes how selfish that sounds, but doesn't really care. It's the reason- one of them, anyway.

She doesn't really, but it's nice to let her think that on occasion.
So have a Juni, a Juni who is hovering in a way that is almost timid with her eyes fixed on the cookies... She hasn't exactly remembered to school her expression into one of sorrow yet but she's getting there... Albeit slowly.

"Step right up dearie, don't be shy," she says, a smile on her face. "The cookies turned out just fine, and have a brownie while you're at it!"
Food is good. Food keeps everyone happy. And that's what Gladys wants.

So she smiles, edges up and takes a cookie "Thanks, I'm Juni by the way."
And my, the cookie is good... It certainly makes her feel better about something... Juni isn't sure of what but still, Cookie: good.

Cookies always = good, in Gladys's book anyway. Anything tasty that makes you feel a little better is good.
"Lovely to meet you, Juni," she says. "I'm Gladys. Do you live here in the hotel, or somewhere else in this fine, fine city?"
She's being sarcastic. As if this city could ever be fine.
