So if anyone were to walk by the Common room they would see all the furniture moved off to the side and a thin boy sitting in the middle of the room. There was a table at the far end and Regulus was just staring at it

To say that Penny wasn't watching this from a safe distance would be a lie. She can't help but be a bit fascinated by the magic, and, well, she never quite recovered from the display in the music room.
This is a little bit new and slightly unsettling. Well, no one ever said that magic didn't have its darker side, but she can't entirely blame the poor boy. He looks utterly miserable.
She tentatively steps through the common room, almost wary of something else exploding and kneels down beside him.
"Regulus, right?" She can barely keep names straight in this place anymore and she feels silly for having to make sure she's right. "Are you having a tough time of things?"
Yes, that much is clear from the way things look around here, but she never assumes too much. Better to state the obvious to show sympathy than assume she knows what's going on in someone's head.
Regulus looked over at her and rubbed at his eyes, "Er, yeah. And I guess you could say that. I'm just feeling lonely, I guess, and stir crazy and...and..."
Penny sits down on the floor, because kneeling isn't actually comfortable, and crosses her legs, resting her elbows on her knees with her chin cupped in her hands. "I can imagine," she smiles warmly, although a little sadly. "This entire scenario isn't conductive to anything resembling sanity. If I could, I'd probably blow something up myself

"It is like a prison," Regulus said quietly. "I just want this whole thing to be over, and I want to be back at school, back home. But I know I can't do that. It's just...hard. I can't pretend this is a vacation anymore. Because it's not. It's just overwhelming now..."
[OOC: Apologies for the lateness, but I haven't been able to do much lately -- let's just pretend this got posted two days ago, shall we? :D?]
Casey isn't around to see the display with the snake; she's not planning on going in the common room at all, actually, except that things begin exploding as she walks by, and that's the kind of thing that catches your attention.
She steps cautiously through the doorway once the destruction has stopped and approaches Regulus. She's not the best comforter, but she likes Regulus, and she'd feel bad passing by without making sure he'll recover.
"Regulus? Are you alright?" Silly question, all things considered, but it's what comes out.
