Finally I'll have something worthwhile

Jul 23, 2008 20:20

Gwen caught the news. About the bank and the mayor. And while this isn't her world, she's affected by the things that happen in this world, and this has her worried

She's in the back of the cafeteria in the Conrad basement, pacing, and trying not to feel useless.

She really hates this place. Really.

Robin is in the cafeteria. For once, he's not running around, but he's done about all he can do and has... mostly run out of energy. Sorry Robin no matter how much caffeine you consume it cannot combat exhaustion levels like you've managed to build up unless an IV shot the stuff into your veins. ((Ahem.))

He's smoking. Yeah, something he took up recently as in a week after his last conversation with Natasha she who must not be named.

Robin glances up at Gwen and it does take him about fifteen minutes to gather the energy or will up to talk to her. "There a reason you're pacing around like that? Oh. Right, was supposed to give you something to do..."

Gwen jumps a little, startled, when he first speaks, but she smiles a little. "No, it's fine. You're busy. I'm just... with the bank robbery and the mayor being killed, it's been a... busy day."

In the world. Out there. Where people have things to do.

"What?"

Robin sighs, pressing his fingers to his forehead and shoving the cigarette back in his mouth. In and out. Right. He can do calming exercises... really.

"Take a five minute break and all hell breaks lose. Figures. That on the news or something?"

Gwen nods. "I thought you'd heard. Just happened about fifteen, twenty minutes ago." She raises an eyebrow. "When was the last time you slept?"

Yes, shes going to mother him. Just a bit.

Angua came to get food. She gets distracted by the pacing, and watches for a minute before asking carefully, "Are you alright?"

Angua hates the basement as much as you do, Gwen, but leaving is complicated for her. The cars still disturb her, and she can't very well go out as a wolf. It's a lot more complicated than home, this world.

Gwen looks up at Angua and smiles automatically - she's a PC, that's just what she does - puts people at ease when shit's going down. Or something like that.

"Yes, sorry, just... a bit antsy. That's all."

Angua's a police officer too, but when she smiles... well, it doesn't so much put people at ease. Either they fall over themselves to flirt with her, or they end up with the odd feeling she's going to go for their throat.

Nevertheless, her lips twitch into a slight smile. "I'd say 'a bit' is putting it lightly, but if you say so..."

"Yeah, I suppose you're right," Gwen admits with a little bit of a laugh. "I'm a PC, back home, though, and I... I feel like I should be doing something. Helping people."

Instead of sitting around being useless.
