Rusty knows his sister is in the hotel. Not sure as to the reasons or how she can afford a hotel room. He has a feeling there is a lot about Annie's life that he's best off not knowing. Not that he'd rat on her. She's more family than the rest of them.

So he finds himself at the ice cream shop looking inside with a little frown.

He glances at Katie, recognizes her as a demon, and starts to think he should get out. But it's obvious she's not an incredibly powerful demon, at least, she's a novice so he stops. The important thing it's unlikely that she'd kill him on a whim. He raises his eyebrows at her.

"How's the ice cream?"

Katie jumps, lets out a little squeak before she can quite stop herself and turns around an expression residing somewhere between bemused and scared on her face.

It's quite clear that she didn't expect to find a demon around here, for some reason she's picked up the mistaken assumption that all demons are staying with Elashte or around Elashte... She's not very good with demon culture, the only demon that she met before she came to Chicago being her hermit of an aunt.

Now she's starting to realise that some of her assumptions have landed far off the mark.

But anyway, she's blushing awkwardly and to cover that she nods her head enthusiastically "Uh... Yeah! Yeah, it's great, it's fine" She stops, assesses Rusty, and blushes harder "sorry about the whole... Jumping thing, I'm just... Not that used to people."

Or other demons, or being a demon, or Chicago or... A lot of things really, her basic purpose in life being to kill is around the top of the list.

Rusty smirks, a little, not really phased by the blushing if anything it just makes him relax more.

"Good. Thinkin' about getting some myself. You got any recommendations?" He waves a hand, a vague gesture that seems to imply don't worry about it, kid.

He doesn't turn his gaze from her. Rusty doesn't have the attention span to look away.

"Don't worry about it. The... not used to people thing. But you might want to fix that. People can be fun."

Katie can't help but smile, it's not that she feels that Rusty is trustworthy it's just that it is in her base nature to smile at people who are being friendly to her… Even if it is a slightly uneasy smile and she's fairly clinging to her ice cream.

She gets rather possessive of things that are hers, even if they are just ice cream.

"I've only really tried two flavours… Vanilla's nice, Strawberry's okay…" Katie shifts slightly and smiles again, this one a little less uneasy "I'm trying to get used to people, I kind of… Live with a lot of other people now so I'm trying to be more sociable, it's just hard after a… A while of not speaking to anybody at all."

Though so far she's gotten on rather well with the few demons she's met, as far as talking about death and torture can be considered getting on rather well with other demons.

She is a Charun after all.

Juliet's not in the best of moods. She's lost two close friends within a month, and that's bound to do something to her mental state as a whole, but maybe she's used to tragedy or maybe she's just too determined and focused and occasionally detached to really let it tear her down.

And it's because she's a doctor that she tends to notice when people aren't at their best and while she doesn't exactly know Juni, it's still fairly obvious that she's ill. Well, anything for a distraction.

"Excuse me," she says, her voice flatter than it usually is. It's the same voice she used on Jack (the other one- the one who isn't here) when she first met him. Cold, detached, and professional, because too much had happened just before that to make her want to deal with emotions at that point. "Are you okay?"

Juni looks at Juliet, opens her mouth to snap something mean... And then closes it again, a slightly fed up expression ending up on her face.

Apparently when Juni gets tired she gets tired, she's certainly aware of that fact and none too pleased about it, it's so much easier to look at the world when you're out to get it.

So instead of snapping and trying to hurt people Juni finds herself nodding slightly shakily "yeah, I'm fine... Just a bit tired but I suppose that's normal for me" she hesitates for a second and then shrugs "my abilities been acting up, it hurts when it happens you see... I suppose I just need to start being smart and go and lie down."

Which may be hard since her head is pounding at a fairly cheerful rate... Which would set off some alarms at any other point but Juni is also apparently unobservant when tired.

Which is probably for the best as Juliet would have snapped something mean right back and no one wants a bitch-fight in the halls. Really.

She tilts her head to the side, still regarding her with the same flat look. Somewhere Julian Sark wants his deadpan back, if that gives you any indication of how emotionless she's being. "I see... And is there any reason why you're not lying down right now?"

It's an obvious question, but unless there's a reason for it, she can't really see anyone wandering about in her state when there's perfectly good beds to lie down on.

Not even Juni is in the mood for a bitch-fight, right now she has the energy to slump around and sulk… Beyond that would probably lead to a rather humiliating loss which would just make her even snappier.

Definitely not a good turn of events.

As it is she settles for a mildly curios glance at Juliet's lack of emotions, a brief consideration of whether she should ask about that and a even briefer conclusion that it doesn't involve her and she's really not in the mood to get too far into the annoying people stakes for fear of humiliating failure.

So for now she just settles for a tired looking shrug and a soft "I was bored, I don't like lying still for long."

It's the truth, or as close to the truth as Juni gets.

It's hard to be her usual sarcastic, bitchy self when her head appears to delight in greeting her every movement with a happy throb that sends her reeling.

She's really starting to hate her body.

Aria is not the only happy person in the park.

As it so happens, Malek and Anya are taking a stroll through it, because they ain't got parks like this in Cicero. They're chattering animatedly - well, Malek is chattering animatedly, and Anya is looking amused and a bit embarrassed to be seen with him - in the odd, half-dialectical jumbled-together English they adopt with each other, liberally sprinkled with Arabic and Chamorro. Malek is peering around, grinning indiscriminately.

He catches sight of Aria and waves more because it's nice to see other happy people than because he knows or recognizes her. And, of course, seeing as none of the three of them have their wings out and can't recognize each other for what species they are... this may be interesting.

Interesting indeed, Aria is fairly sane about demons but she's still got those hunting and chasing instincts around demons... And she'll never say no to a good hunt, with prey that she probably won't fall for if she kills them.

But right now she knows nothing of any nearby demons and is feeling happy and sociable... Another miracle to add to Aria's slate.

So when Malek waves at her instead of hissing or glaring, she smiles even more brightly, gives a little wave back and strolls over with a contented smile still firmly in place... She probably won't be this happy again until she's Five hundred, not that she really has a chance of reaching five hundred considering how much of a miracle it is that she even got to one hundred.

Yeah, she's one of those stupidly obsessed vengeance angels who accidentally started a feud with several fairly old Behemoths that are still out searching for her, a definite miracle.

"Hello, lovely day isn't it?" And yet another… Let’s just stop counting now.

"Beautiful," Malek agrees. "Eh, don't get me wrong, nothin' compared to some days in, eh, Guam, Leb - still though. Nice day for a stroll." He shoves his hands into his pockets. It's odd how he can seem so cheerful, walking around like a great hulking 6'3 thug in all black and a shaved head, but Malek's just generally too genial to be threatening unless he's really up in arms. The fact that he has a tiny girl on his arm helps, too. "You just out, enjoyin' th'sun?"

Aria nods and shoves her hands in her pockets, still smiling fairly brightly “yeah, it’s mild compared to some days in France but it’s okay, a very nice day.”

Of course it would be a nice day for her even if the apocalypse was occurring, but she can’t very well start ranting about her hundredth birthday because she looks nowhere near a hundred… People would just stare.

And it would alert several people to her being a angel but that hasn’t occurred to Aria yet, she can be rather slow around matters that aren’t vengeance or somehow related to vengeance.

You see? Obsessed.

So obsessed that she’s trained enough to get to the point that nothing really scares her much, it’s either extreme bravery or extreme stupidity… Let’s go with the stupidity for now.

“Yeah, I’ve been stuck inside a lot lately so I’m taking any chances I can to get any sun” while not chasing madly after somebody, or being chased by somebody or… The life of Aria, she can never keep still.
