Tay is miserable.

True, it could be worse, and she's trying to remember that, but it's hard. She doesn't want to be a guardian angel. She wants to be an archangel

Nate has no concept of risk, for the most part. At least when it comes to himself.

"Mat?" he calls as he wanders into the common room - for the fifth or twelfth time. Yeah. He's kinda hopeless. And never thinks to use the journals when he should. And instead of finding his brother, he finds... "Okay, not Mat."

He's getting tired of wandering around, though, and maybe if he stays in one place, Mat will find him... Yeah. 'Cause Mat's looking for him. Or is even downstairs... whatever. So Nate walks over to Tay and flops down in a chair next to her.

"Hi there."

Tay blinks at him a little, having not really expected anyone to talk to her given that most everyone else seems to be busy with something or another.

"Um... hey." She doesn't exactly sound excited. Or, really, like she wants to be alive. Give it time, she'll get used to her life.

Nate quirks an eyebrow at her, a little concerned despite himself. He's protective by nature. And not just of his ward.

"You alright, kid?"

"My birthday was Saturday and I turned out to have the completely wrong calling and my dad's going to blow a fuse," she snaps (though only half-heartedly). "What do you think?"

Aria is also rather miserable, her response is to stomp around and glare at perfectly innocent people until their brains turn to jelly or some other liquid form of matter.

Or she's glared at in response, both have happened before.

Still, her mother was a guardian angel and so Aria does have a few caring impulses, buried deep in her heart.

One of them has somehow attached itself to Tay, Aria is almsot surprised by this.

So when she stalks into the common room, wings flared and a expression on her face suggesting that she is looking for a fight she sees Tay and softens immediately.

But only slightly.

"Hello."
